Any experts on Douala here? I'm going there for the first time this summer with someone who supposedly knows the town, but any tips from experts would be welcome.

Im particularly interested in knowing about the transit process at this airport. I will be coming in on SAA from JNB and transiting to AF's flight 3.5 hours later to CDG. Im sure I have to clear customs/immigration as a transit pax, but am a bit nervous as Ive heard how the customs officials are thieves/criminals. Should I be concerned? Will the transit process be a nightmare?

I don't know about transit, but I did bribe my way into the country with some French wine. ;)

Seriously I doubt you will have a problem, but it couldn't hurt to have a 5 bucks in your pocket.

I had the $5 in my pocket, but used it at JNB for the baggage weight police at the security entrance to let me through with my carry-ons...8kg is really quite light when you consider people carrying laptops/chargers/cameras/etc. Those overheads were built to handle it.

I simply ignored all the people in DLA that volunteered to "walk me through" security and to the lounge. Beware, they will have their hands out in no time!
