Suggested Accommodations for Victoria Falls - April of 2022
Hello,
I am trying to take the family on an African Safari from the USA in April of 2022. We will most likely do our safari activities in Hwange park. The kids will be 7 and 5 at that time.
As part of our trip I would like to spend roughly 3 nights in Victoria Falls (or very close by) preferably on the Zimbabwe side to see the falls, do some activities in the area, and to potentially go on a game/safari drive in Zambezi National Park. I am trying to keep lodging expenses for the 3 nights in Victoria Falls to roughly $400 per night or less for the family of 4. Can anyone suggest modest accommodations in Victoria Falls or nearby (say within 30 minutes) that would fit the bill for this? We would be fine with anything from a hostel that has a private room/bathroom all the way to more typical hotels or family stays.
I have Marriott points so I was thinking of the Protea in Livingstone but given our flight timings to/from VFA and trips to Hwange and incremental expense of Zambian visas for the family staying on the Zimbabwe side seems to make the most sense all things considered.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and suggestions from those who know the area well.
Best regards,
Beofotch

So much options with that budget! Just take your time to do good research, and on your search conside the following:
1. The exact location of the hotel.
2. The Internet connection - If you need one.
3. Complimentary hotel breakfast - What is included and what not.
4. 4. Hotel reviews on trusted review sites.
5. Hotel toiletries and facilities.
6. Hotel Type - If you’re traveling with kids, always check the hotels’ family-friendly policies. There are also many special deals for families to enjoy these days. If you see any, don’t let them slip away!
7. The size of the hotel room
8. Special discounts or loyalty rewards

Hello Beofotch
Very exciting to hear that you are planning a family trip to Zimbabwe! Where are you staying in Hwange?
As for Victoria Falls, I recommend looking at Ilala Lodge. Rates are great as is the location. It is a modest hotel with one of the best restaurants in Victoria Falls. The hotel is also just a 10-minute walk from the Victoria Falls entrance and next door to a local market called the Elephant Walk. Happy planning!

Thank you for the all the advice.
I have looked into some of the options provided.
I have landed on 2 nights in a modest AirBNB (as i have some credit to use) and then 2 nights at the Protea using points. Thank you!
