Mosquito net needed for central Nairobi hotel stay?

Iíll be in Nairobi for about 24 hours next month. Based on CDC malaria information I had been planning to use a mosquito net there, but I just confirmed with my hotel (an upmarket hotel in the city) that they do not have hooks for nets.

Is a net overkill in this situation? I will be taking Malarone, and the hotel confirmed that they provide insecticide spray for the room.

Goodness no! I've done over 100 hotel nights in Nairobi and lived in that region as well. Never the slightest concern about malaria.

Yes, it is overkill. I go there every month on business and had a spell living there. In all that time I have never used a net or taken anti malarial.

Isn't Nairobi supposed to be malaria-free because of the high altitude?

It's not entirely malaria-free but for a short term visitor, I wouldn't be overly concerned.

I would still ensure they spray the room, not for malaria concerns but just because getting bitten is annoying

NBO should be fine - you will not be walking out at night and likely to be in the hotel most of the time...You don't need to take anti-M Meds - Just cover up and use a spray if concerned...espesh if sitting by the pool...
The main issues are if you go to the coast....then there are higher risks
