I am planning a short trip to JNB, does it require a visa for one day stay?

Getting in to JNB is straightforward. The hardest part is getting through a long lineup to get your passport stamped. But for visa-exempt countries (which I believe are most European countries, Canada, US, Australia, New Zealand etc) it's really not a problem.

I would recommend you do a touch of research on where to stay and how to get around. Like any other major city in the world, there are nice parts of town and not-so-nice parts. The challenge with JNB is that the not-so-nice parts can be really not nice so a higher than average awareness of your surroundings is recommended. Having a driver take you around is probably the best solution.
