i did 2 days in Zambia and 4 in Zimbabwe. But i did most of my activities on the Zambian side and only really did the walk around view points on the Zimbabwean side. Plus the high tea at the Victoria falls hotel. The rest of Zimbabwe was really spent relaxing by the pool and reading etc as it was less stressful that way!

OT, but ... sadly lost over the decades. my father had some postage stamps and currency notes from the days of German hyperinflation. Lots of 000000s on those too!

Latest from the ground: RTGS (current Zim$) is very hard to get in currency form, and when you do it will be in very small amounts. 99% of the economy operates by EcoCash these days, and trading US$ cash into EcoCash is no simple task....unless you know someone with a substantial EcoCash balance who wants US$ physical cash in exchange.

the unusual transaction with security guard had imbued me with an ecocash account. I should probably look into how to recharge it

Looks like Zimbabwe has found its way into my "too hard" basket for this year. Hopefully things will stabilise again in the future.

Is ZAR any easier to use than USD in Zimbabwe?

Will be staying in a lodge in the Victoria Falls area in Zimbabwe and wondering about currency for tips.

Yes, this is one I have been following with interest. Given the difficulties, I have more or less decided that I'm going to be staying on the Zambian side and just walking over the bridge for a day's sightseeing on foot.
