Transferring at ORT on separate tickets

We will be arriving on BA055 eta 07:05 at OR Tambo from LHR. Then we will be flying to WDH at 12:00 on BA6275 with Comair. As we are on separate tickets we will have to collect our luggage and re check it onto WDH and will also have to get our boarding passes.
What is the best/easiest procedure for doing this at ORT?
We have transferred at ORT many times before but never on separate tickets.

Thanks for any help and advice.

Try this thread.

By the way, ORT is Northway Airport in Alaska. You will be flying to and from JNB.

Thanks for the link Johan, much appreciated.
I tend to refer affectionately to JNB as ORT rather than Jan Smuts as we used to back in the day. 😃.
Do you happen to know if it's possible to get luggage "wrapped" before rechecking at the international transfer desk? We will have a soft holdall with us which will need to be wrapped for the flight to WDH.

If you are "connecting" on separate tickets then you will have to go through immigration and collect you bags to recheck them. There are at least 2 luggage wrappers between the exit after customs and the BA check-in desks.
