EATV with Tanzania side trip
I'm travelling for the first time to East Africa in September and October and trying to work out what I need for visas.
Our itinerary is (roughly): Arrive Nairobi and stay for 2 nights Fly to Kigali then travel straight to Bwindi for 4 days Fly back from Kigali to Nairobi Safari departing from and returning to Nairobi, with 8 days in Tanzania. On both occasions we will go through Namanga. We'll be back in Kenya for only 2 days before flying to Egypt for 2 weeks. We're planning to use an EATV at least for the first stint. I have 2 questions: 1. Will I be able to re-enter Kenya on my EATV after visiting Tanzania. I have read this is possible on a single entry Kenyan visa. Otherwise can I get a 72 hour transit visa at Namanga? 2. Can I get a Tanzania visa on entry at Namanga? Thanks! |
1. Not in theory - the EATV expires if you leave the countries it is valid for. Whether you'd get away with it anyway is something I don't know, and maybe a question that depends on your own risk appetite. Of course at Namanga it'll be quite obvious where you've come in from...
You should be able to get the transit visa though, if only there 2 days. It might even be worth getting it online in advance. 2. Yes. |
Thanks typical :)

For no 2: What is your nationality? Most nationalities can get tourist visa on arrival, with few exceptions though.
Remember $ 50 in cash ($ 100 if you are American). Notes must be newer than 2006. |
Hi Goaguy - thanks for this.
We're both Australian - will we be OK? |
