Paul Kruger gate inaccessible due to protests?

Anyone have any experience with this? In a couple of weeks we are staying outside the park at the Protea Kruger Gate for 3 nights making day trips in before staying in the park for an additional week. Seems they have been mixing things up a bit closing different gates. What are the protests about?
