Mauritius: recommendations for smallish hotel or B&B in hills or on nice beach?

My wife and I will be going to the St. Regis in Mauritius for five days in November. For a different perspective before going there, including making it easier to explore a different part of the island, we'd like a change of pace. Could anyone recommend a smallish hotel or B&B either: a) in the hills or b) on a nice beach that offers long walks, good swimming and access to non-hotel restaurants or a place in the hills? (If in the hills, it's less important that we have access to walks and restaurants right near the hotel if the scenery or other features are nice.) Our budget would be about $200/night or so for that part of the trip.

Thanks for any advice!

This is obviously too late for the original poster but might be useful for others. I recommend La Vieille Cheminee in the mountains in south west of the island. This is a working horse and pineapple farm that has 5-6 lodges they rent out. They can arrange for a local lady to bring you breakfast in the morning and provide other meals if necessary. We stayed there for 5 days and I just wish we could stay longer.
