VFA landing time / Devil's Pool
Question for you guys!
If I am expected to land at VFA at 12:15PM, do you think it's realistically possible to catch a 3:15PM tour for Devil's Pool? Things I need to consider: 1. Immigration/Visa time upon arrival 2. Commute time from airport to meeting point on Zambia Side 3. Visa/Cross border time from Zimbabwe side to Zambia Side I don't think it's possible but wanted to know for sure so I can eliminate this option. Curious to hear from anyone who has landed into VFA on how long it took to get out the airport along with how long it takes to get from Zimbabwe Side to Zambia Side. Thanks, J |
I'm not sure where are you flying from, but why not fly to LVI instead?

We're also going in November. In case you've booked Devil's Pool; how did you do it?

In theory it should be possible - if the ET flight lands on time, there are no huge delays at VFA, that you transfer is there on-time and that the border post between Zimbabwe and Zambia is running smoothly.
A few points: When you get there IF Zimbabwe has received new stock of the Univisa get one of those as it allows you 'free" cross border travel between Zimbabwe and Zambia. However, currently both Zimbabwe and Zambia have run out of the visa stickers - so at this stage you will still need to get your Zimbabwe double entry visa on arrival in VFA and then a Zambian day visa at the Zim/Zam border. SA40 and BA6285 the two main daily flights from Johannesburg to Victoria Falls will land at 12:25 and 13:05 respectively if they are on-time, and they are quite often early. If the ET flight lands at the same time as these two, then there can be serious delays. If you are getting a transfer from VFA to Livingstone, I would recommend that you make sure you book it on a private basis. Although this will cost more, if you get a shared transfer and someone else on the party gets stuck at immigration everyone will wait. Just a thought - check with whoever you are doing the Devil's Pool booking and see if they offer transfers from VFA. If they do, it might be worth booking with them, and they are then likely to be more flexible and accommodating if there is any delay. The little border between Zimbabwe and Zambia is usually relatively efficient, as long as a large tour group does not arrive just ahead of you. Good luck - it is a beautiful corner of the world! |
