explore-namibia.com?
We'll be in South Africa early next yearand want to make a side trip to Namibia. We'd fly in fom JNB to WDH and fly on from WDH to CPT and we're looking for land-only self-drive tours. Sadly we're limited to 12 days maximum.
Web searching, I came across www.explore-nambia.com which looks like a reasonable supplier for tours from WDH back to WDH. They seem to be Namibia-based and offer the kind of tours we're interested in, especially Storm Visit http://www.explore-namibia.com/storm-visit and Highlights http://www.explore-namibia.com/highlights . Has anybody experience of explore-namibia.com or can offer a comment on these tours? I readily accept that we will be time-limited so will miss the greater Namibia experience. Thanks for your advice. |
I see you posted this several months ago, but I'm just now seeing it. (Sorry!) The first trip you mentioned, the storm is a lot of driving, long distances in a short amount of time. It's doable but you'll see more of the country from the car trying to make kilometers than spending time at your destinations.
The second option is better, however Rehoboth and Waterburg are odd additions when there could be more time added somewhere else. Most of the trips that I fly for people have two nights Sossusvlei, two nights Swakopmund, three nights Etosha and occasionally one-two nights in the Twyfelfontein area. I find that putting Swakopmund in the middle is a nice break in a smallish town before heading back out into the bush for 5-7 days. What time of year are you looking at doing this? I can put you in contact with some of my travel agent friends here who I know personally and have used personally for my own travels, they may be able to get you some other really nice itinerary options. |
Thanks very much for your local knowledge. :)
Things are coming to a head as we'll be in ZA for the first half of February and I have a couple of short Euro trips in the meantime. I think this precludes getting an alternative as there's not enough time to line everything up. I've been away and have not paid enough attention to personal dates. Silly me. We're also looking at taking the Premier Classe train from Johannesburg to Cape Town. We've done CT-JB before and enjoyed it. However, Namibia would trump this idea in an instant! If you thought there as a way of organising a Namibia trip without causing grief to your friends, please PM me, though with just under four weeks to go, I'm thinking we should plan ahead for a later trip to Namibia. Many thanks for your advice! |
