Welcome to the Aer Lingus lounge thread.

Let's start with some information. Aer Lingus operates but three of its own lounges, which are located at Dublin (DUB) terminal 2, London Heathrow (LHR) terminal 2, and New York (JFK). However, arrangements are in place at many other airports served by Aer Lingus to accommodate eligible passengers in lounges operated by other airlines, ground handlers, or the airport itself.

In all cases lounge access gained via a frequent flyer scheme must be evidenced by presentation of an in-date plastic card or other evidence such as app screen. And as in all cases of things Irish, this is applied with glorious inconsistency

People entitled to lounge access are those travelling on Aer Lingus and falling into one of the following categories:

• AerClub Concierge or Platinum members plus one guest
• AerClub Silver members
• Bank of Ireland Aer Lingus Gold Visa Business cardholders plus one guest
• Passengers travelling on an EI Advantage or AerSpace Fare (within Europe), on presentation of their lounge access email. Note that this means the fare described on EI's website as such, and may not incorporate fully flexible tickets purchased via other channels.
• Passengers travelling in EI Business Class (trans-atlantic). This includes access at Dublin having arrived in business class with an onward connection, and should include access at European airports with an onward connection in business.
• Passengers who have purchased lounge access when booking or using Manage My Booking (available at a limited number of locations), on presentation of their email receipt

Officially, guests (where allowed) must be on the same flight. This may not be enforced in practice.

Although Aer Lingus codeshares with United on a number of routes, Star Alliance membership does not grant access to Aer Lingus lounges.

Some lounges have additional access permissions, and where relevant these will be noted adjacent to the particular lounge's details.

Belfast (BHD): The Aspire Lounge
Location: Airside, near gate A
Access rules: Normal access rules apply.

Cork (ORK): The Jack Lynch Lounge

Location: Airside, a nondescript door by gate 8
Hours of operation: 06:30 to 21:00, 7 days
Access rules: Normal access rules apply with the following additions:

• BA Executive Club Gold/Silver are permitted access when flying Aer Lingus (no guest). As of January 2013 the notice at the lounge reception says that it must be a codeshare flight.
• Institute of Directors members are permitted access
• Priority Pass (max 1 guest)
• Pay on the door (€25)

This lounge is operated by HMSHost who also manage all the catering facilities in the airport. Seating capacity is approximately 25.

Facilities:

• Free wi-fi (throughout the airport)
• Two computers with Internet access; printing facilities seem to have lost the out of order notice but gained dust
• There's even half a dozen power sockets now
• TV, probably showing Mass on Sundays
• Irish newspapers
• Meeting room for 4 people (extra charge applies in theory, but probably has been levied once in the history of the airport. You'll be grand)
• Selection of wines, beers, spirits
• Selection of tea (select from an entire basket of Barry's Gold Blend)
• Basic coffee machine
• Soft drinks, still and sparkling water (glass bottles)
• Breakfast cereals (all day)
• Fresh snacks, pastries and muffins
• Yoghurts
• Crisps (Pringles), cheese, and crackers
• Washrooms are located outside the lounge

Dublin (DUB): Aer Lingus Gold Circle Lounge

Location: Terminal 2, airside, in the lounge zone
Hours of operation: 05:00 to 21:00, 7 days a week

Access rules: Normal access rules apply with the following additions:

• BA Executive Club Gold/Silver are permitted access when flying an Aer Lingus flight to LHR or LGW (guesting privileges seem not to be available any more, but your mileage may vary)
• SkyTeam Elite Plus members are permitted access when flying to AMS
• Any passenger flying to AMS and connecting to a KL flight in business class is permitted access
• American Airlines business class passengers have access (no guest) as do oneworld emerald and sapphire members flying on AA (one guest who must also be on AA). These passengers may need to obtain a chit at check-in.
• Access is available to passengers departing on a United Airlines flight in business class (but not to passengers connecting from a United Airlines flight to some other flight)
• Pay on the door or through Manage My Booking (€25)

Star Alliance cards do not grant access under any circumstances. Please quit asking.

Facilities:

• Free wi-fi (get code at reception)
• Desks for laptops, and Samsung tablets on loan
• TV
• Irish newspapers
• Showers and quiet zone upstairs
• Selection of wines, beers, spirits
• Teas and coffees
• Soft drinks, sparkling water, and a jug of tap water
• Fresh pastries and cookies
• Yoghurts
• Crisps, cheese, brown bread, paté, pretzels and crackers
• Washrooms are located inside the lounge

Note that this lounge is some distance away from the 300-series gates, which are used for some early and late flights. Flight announcements are only made for transatlantic passengers.

Knock (NOC) aka Ireland West Airport
Lounge is airside near gate 3, unclear if access is offered to GCC cardholders.
NB: You must put €10 in the collection plate to pass through security.

Shannon (SNN): The Rineanna Suite

Aberdeen (ABZ): Servisair Lounge

Birmingham (BHX): Aspire Lounge
Location: Airside, hang a left after the end of the duty free shop that you are forced through after security, or follow signs for gates 1-20

Access: Normal access rules apply, plus Priority Pass is accepted and you can pay in on the door for around £20.

This lounge is managed by Servisair.

Facilities:

• Free wifi
• TV
• Newspapers
• Selection of wines, beers, and spirits
• Teas and coffees (fresh milk in the fridge, UHT stuff next to the machines)
• Soft drinks, but no mineral water. Only a jug.
• Prepackaged biscuits
• Fresh cakes (for varying definitions of fresh)
• Soup of the day and warm bread rolls, but no butter
• Pretzels, trail mix, and similar salty snacks
• Washrooms are located outside the lounge

Blackpool (BLK): Servisair Lounge

Bristol (BRS): Executive Lounge

Cardiff (CWL): Executive Lounge

Edinburgh (EDI): Servisair Lounge

Location: airside, on the way to gates 1.

Glasgow (GLA): Servisair Lounge

London Gatwick (LGW): The Aspire lounge

Location: South terminal, airside

Standard access rules apply, plus Priority Pass is accepted and paid admission is possible for approximately £25.

Note that access to the more upmarket No. 1 Lounge is no longer offered

London Heathrow (LHR): Gold Circle Club Lounge

Location: Terminal 2, airside lounge A2 (turn right after security)

Hours of operation: From 0530 until EI725 is called

Access rules: Standard access rules apply, with the following additions:

• British Airways Executive Club Gold and Silver members are admitted when travelling Aer Lingus. Guesting privileges have been withdrawn effective April 2015. Cardholder only.
• Passengers connecting from a long-haul BA flight in business or first class are admitted on production of their boarding stub and on onward boarding pass on Aer Lingus
• Entry may be purchased for £23/€25 online or at reception

It is unclear whether access is available when connecting onto an Aer Lingus business class flight.

Further NB: No access for connecting from UA, *G, Priority Pass, etc. unless meeting one of the above categories.

Facilities:

• Free wi-fi (password displayed throughout the lounge)
• Work desks (but no computers)
• Samsung tablets available on loan
• Range of wines, beers, and spirits
• Selection of teas and coffees
• Soft drinks and mineral water
• Soup with bread rolls
• pretzels, crackers and cheese
• Biscuits and shortbread
• Washrooms are located within the lounge
• Two shower cubicles are available

British Airways Galleries Club lounges
Locations: Terminal 3, airside, lounge zone F; terminal 5, turn left at north security; terminal 5, Galleries South lounge complex; terminal 5B, upper level.

Access rules:

• BA First and Business Class passengers (+1 guest for First)
• Oneworld Emerald and Sapphire passengers (+1 guest)
• BA domestic passengers booked in J and Y fare buckets only
• Gold Circle Prestige and Elite members but only on a through booking transferring from an EI flight

• Free wi-fi (take a voucher or three at reception)
• Selection of spirits, one each of red wine, white wine, and beer (Tuborg on tap)
• Selection of soft drinks (post mix)
• Tea and coffee
• Wide range of breads
• Cold cuts, couscous salad
• Fruit and a small selection of loose biscuits
• A selection of (primarily Danish) newspapers
• Washrooms are located just outside the lounge

OK, have at it below here. I am going to start filling in details based on the EI website, airport websites, personal experience, and anything else I can dig up. Additions will be welcomed.

Firstly Good Luck to everyone involved in this venture.
Possibly we will now get a definitive answer as to whether those on connecting flights from the UK to the US via Dublin should have lounge access in their UK departure airport when on a Business class booking.
Unfortunately EI book you into the lowest class bucket on the connecting flight to Dublin. Last time flying from EDI we were refused lounge access. I know there is no Business Class on regional flights but I would like the opportunity to be booked with a flex ticket to gain access to the lounge. I know the lounge is no great shakes but it is still agood way to start the trip.
Off to JFK in April so will see what happens this time.
Anyone out there with an update on the lounge situation in T5 at JFK?

Knock has a lounge now apparently. I was astonished when I heard. Not sure if its open to Aer Lingus elites but I imagine it is. It looks like the smallest lounge ever built: http://www.irelandwestairport.com/ai...ve_lounge.aspx

I look forward to trying it out in my next flight from Knock.

Some info re DUB lounge access for KLM codeshare passengers to AMS: Access for Flying Blue members (no level actually specified!). Otherwise, no access for Skyteam Elite+ members nor KLM business class fares.

If you mean getting access in DUB on an EI-only (not KL coded) flight to AMS, that's new!


Could I also ask you, stifle, to change "KLM Business Lounge" to "KLM Crown Lounge". A small thing, I know, but I reckon I have a better chance of getting it corrected here as opposed to on the EI website!
