US Preclearance
Just curious. Anyone have their phone checked/searched in Dublin recently? Hearing some anecdotal stories.

I did fill in my social media accounts on the ESTA beforehand though, even though they're "optional", I figured I had nothing to lose. |

Went through fine in August, which was after all the "they're coming for your phones" stuff came about. Didn't even have a fingerprint check. Why are you going to the USA, who are you seeing, where are you staying, welcome to the USA.

I haven't provided my social media on my ESTA (expires in March) however, they are more than welcome to scroll through my social media, sms, Whatsapp and emails for all I care. Nothing to hide and never have done.
I'm married to a US citizen. I'm going through again in three weeks time with just our two youngest. Got a letter of consent to travel with photocopies of both US and GB passports. They don't ask me questions anyway as I use British Sign Language to them signing "I'm Deaf" and it's a smile and one two questions via lip reading. That's it! |
They ain't randomly looking at phones, if they do go looking for your phone its because they think/know they will find something. I don't know of anyone who has been searched or refused in a long long time.
As preclearance is not the US you have the right to decline any question or search and ask to be returned immediately to the public part of the airport. This cannot be refused. I have a push from my boss to use preclearance when travelling to the US, it keeps the stress levels down but its not like I wouldn't use preclearance, its the best way to go |

No issues going to the USA either through pre clearance or on arrival. They know who they are looking for. |
Is MPC still no longer being used at DUB? It wasn't in November when I last went through. Gonna be going through in just over two weeks times to BOS on a redemption booking with my two youngest in J.

RMDrive thanks for letting me know!

There was an MPC lane but its not there anymore. Would still advise using MPC as any additional information you can submit before getting to the booth will speed processing

I had an odd experience going through to the LAS flight recently. The immigration officer barely acknowledged my presence in front of her, didnt take my passport or look at it, she simply said look into the camera, clicked a photo, and said thank you have a nice trip.
