Straight To Security

This is a dumb question I know, but I usually travel with checked baggage so this is new to me.

Travelling from NCL-DUB with just a carry-on. Already checked in and boarding pass in hand. Can I just go straight to security or do I still need to go to the check-in desk for them to make sure my carry-on conforms to their guidelines?

What ticket type are you travelling on?

Most Aer Lingus tickets require you to check in your "carry-on" bag (for free).

If you arrive at the gate with a 10kg carry-on bag but without a ticket that includes the ability to actually carry the bag on, or if you didn't pay the extra fee for Priority Boarding, then you'll be charged £35/€35 at the gate, and you still won't be allowed to carry your case onboard.

EDIT: as this is presumably an Aer Lingus Regional route, you're subject to a more stringent carry-on size and weight limit (7kg). Make sure you're aware of the dimensions of your bag or you might find a nasty surprise at the gate. In case of doubt, check it in (for free) at the check-in desks; once you've gone to the gate, it's too late to avoid extra fees if it's deemed too big/heavy

Never had my bag measured at the gate. Not once. And I only travel with carry on. Never seen anyone else checked either

I presumed the OP knew about the need to have a ticket that allowed carry on.

Yes, it’s an Emerald Airlines flight. This is what it says on my electronic boarding pass.

If carry on bag is included and if your carry on fits the approved size then you’re good to go. Most people’s carry on is rarely much larger than the given sizes so I can’t see you having a problem. As I’ve noted already. I’ve never seen bags measured in my travels. You should be fine unless it’s well over the size allowed.
