EDI - DUB - MCO Business Class

I am thinking of booking this next year as it is over Ł1000 a person cheaper than BA. Plus BA don't actually have flights to LGW from EDI to connect to the MCO flight.

A few questions, it has been years since I did a flight to the US on EI and not BA.

1. The flight from EDI - DUB books into Economy, does this mean there is no lounge access in EDI based on the EI ticket?

2. There are a couple of A320 flights between EDI and DUB - I have seen these described as EI mainline, but when I try to book they still say Emerald Air Economy, is that correct?

3. As the EI flights have a BA code if I book them on EI can I use the EDI BA lounge with my BA GGL card?

4. I have seen that EI are using some leased A330s on US routes, will this still likely be the case next summer?

Thanks

1. As far as I remember there's no lounge access is available with Aer Lingus at Edinburgh airport. You'll get access in Dublin though. Only Economy class on this route.

2. A320 flights are operated by Aer Lingus mainline. Emerald only operate ATRs.

3. No. Aer Lingus isn't part of OneWorld so no lounge access when booked with EI (even with a BA flight number).

4. Don't know.

I'm 90% sure I'm right but happy to be corrected.
Thanks!

For number 3.

I was wondering about the bit about codeshare partners here, I wasn't sure if you had to book it through BA, or it could be booked through EI.

If you book through EI, you are on EI flightcodes. Hence, you are not travelling on a BA codeshare.

1. Correct, no lounge access in EDI. You could purchase it with some of your Ł1,000 saving if you really needed it.

2. A320 flights are all Aer Lingus mainline.

3. As per another poster here, if your flights have a BA code, you may be able to get in to the EDI BA lounge with no guest as a Gold Card holder. I've done it once in AMS, flying EI to DUB on a BA flight number (several years ago) and it took them a while having to look it up, but I was allowed in.

4. It is unknown, however it is possible. Obviously the airline tries to avoid this where possible, but it could happen for any number of reasons. Usually they will try to operate - and plan - the schedule with the aircraft they have, so it should be EI.
