Calculate Tier Points on EI

Is there a link?

DUB_LHR C AerSpace Class
LHR-YUL I AerSpace Class
YYZ-DUB R Business Class

I am making this trip next week and want to see if I can qualify for SILVER with EI mostly from this trip. I am already a GOLD with BA for 2024 so do not need to TIER Points with them.

Also noted that I don't earn any AVIOS with BA for the LHR-YUL leg of my trip which is in BA business

DUB-LHR - 50
LHR-YUL - 0
YYZ-DUB - 125

AerSpace exists only as a "virtual" class on shorthaul EI-operated flights. The above flight is neither shorthaul, nor is it operated by EI.

Just as well; you can never earn BA Tier Points when travelling under an EI flightcode.

Even if on a BA flight?

When you book any BA- or EI-operated flight as an EI-marketed flight, you cannot earn BA Tier Points. Period.

I know that, I was wondering about earning AER Lingus Tier Points.

The first two flights on the Aer Lingus booking are codeshare with BA the last one on EI.

I had hoped to earn 270 Tier points with EI which would make me Silver, as have 30 already

You can only get EI Tier Credits on Aer Lingus operated flights that were also ticketed (i.e. marketed/sold) by Aer Lingus.

Step on BA or any other carrier as part of your EI ticket, and you cannot earn EI Tier Credits on those flights. Neither can you earn BA Tier Points on those flights.

If your goal is to attain status in Aer Club, you should avoid as much as possible any codeshares on other carriers. Or, at the very least, try to minimise their impact (so, instead of taking a transatlantic crossing on a partner, instead choose an itinerary that gets you across the Atlantic on EI metal, and which gets you on to your final destination on a partner on a shorter flight)

It looks as if you will only earn EI Aerclub tier credits for the last flight (so 125 in J for YYZ-DUB).
Just to note that you need 301 tier credits to earn silver status (that 1 at the end can be rather important depending on how you earn).

From the Aer Lingus website (my bolding)

** AerSpace Tier Credits are awarded on short haul flights purchased in I, J, D, & C Class only. They are not earned as part of a long haul Business fare where AerSpace is complimentary, original fare rules and Tier Credits apply in this instance.

You would have earned the same on that LHR-YUL flight in the Executive Club. 8130 Avios and 0 TPs for that EI8795.

It's really annoying when you don't earn TPs, I never book flights without knowing what I'll get. Hopefully in the future you will get TPs for these kinds of things.

It's been 8 years, 5 weeks and 5 days since IAG took over Aer Lingus.

If BA hasn't switched on Tier Point earning for EI by now, then they clearly won't ever do so....unless EI joins oneworld. (Let's not direct this conversation down that road, when there are several other threads dedicated to that topic!)

A fair thought, but things move slowly in aviation, and system upgrades do point in a direction of moving forward rather than back, so fingers crossed something is on the way.
