Finnair to adopt Avios

Seems Finnair are adopting Avios and will convert from Finnair Plus to Avios at 3:2. Means that Avios can be transferred to Finnair plus I assume and used on their flights.

MM00LL2 and AirbusA350 like this.

They haven't actually said they would support transferring have they? But it's a good supposition given that transfers to Iberia are possible. That said transfers to Iberia are subject to some restrictions. I recall signing up for Uber in Madrid just to earn a few Avios in Iberia so that I would be able to transfer later. I don't know if Finnish will be as obliging...

I think I read somewhere the transfers will be AY to BA only... but really, from there they can go to all the other airlines. I am not going to join Finnair Plus just yet, I'm already good with my AerClub, Executive Club and Iberia Plus accounts.

I think they would actually have to announce that they are NOT supporting transferring because the default in ALL programmes that use Avios so far is that transfers are/become possible....even in programmes that never previously had any capacity to share/transfer frequent flyer currency to other programmes.

But the last time I logged into my Qatar Airways Privilege Club it instead wanted to "link" with my BA account, and the same balance is now shown in both; I'm not sure if it's still possible to transfer Avios "out" of Privilege Club, but I was able to do so as recently as last November (QR conveniently allows Avios to be earned on Virgin Australia flights).

I think it's sort of part-and-parcel that, once you adopt Avios, that opens the door to transferring/sharing Avios with at least one other Avios-using programme.

Vueling uses Avios also and you in theory can just use the EI Aer Club number directly
