LHR - Rail Strike
Of course the railways are on strike next week when I’m there.
It appears the Elizabeth line and Heathrow Express will be running. Anyone any experience of exactly how busy they are on a strike day? I presume very much so.
Looked at a later flight for return. Too expensive.
It’s an AerSpace fare. If I was late to LHR on the return would they put me in the next flight without charge? If there was space?

Doubt be any different to normal only the Piccadilly will be impacted at LHR so getting out of LHR shouldn't be any different to now
Boarding in central London could be challenging getting back, Elizabeth Line is already the busiest rail line in the UK

I always use the Piccadilly. Cheap and suits me. The one time I was on the elizabeth, heading back to LHR, it was very busy. Guess I’ll just bite the bullet and go Heathrow Express.

I'd take elizabeth line back to lhr
From experience strikes days are no busier than non strike days as those who can work from home will avoid office on strike days.
If tube strikes go ahead next week you may find it difficult to position yourself back to Paddington for HEX train
Plus HEX train is a complete rip off.

The plan is for all the 'core' stations, which are mostly staffed by Underground rather than Elizabeth line staff (it's a completely separate operator behind the scenes), to remain open with one entrance/exit for Elizabeth line services.

I'd still take elizabeth line much more comfortable than picadilly line plus possibility of fare capping kicking in if you are using tfl service multiple times days you are travelling to and from Heathrow.

Mind you. This time. On the way back, I could pick up the Elizabeth line at Farringdon, before Bond Street and Paddington, which should make it a lot less busy in terms of getting a seat, you’d think anyway.
Thanks to all for the help. I’ve a few stops to make and had been all over the tfl app recently. Thankfully problem solved now.
