EI (United codeshare) ticket type
Either my search skills have failed or this information is legitimately hard to find.
On a revenue United business-class ticket with an Aer Lingus feeder, DUB-LHR-SFO in this case, what fare type does this book into on Aer Lingus? United says Economy (B) for the op by EI sectors, but I'm not sure which fare type this maps to: Saver, Plus, Advantage, (guessing not) Aer Space. |

United says Economy (B) for the op by EI sectors, but I'm not sure which fare type this maps to: Saver, Plus, Advantage, (guessing not) Aer Space. For tickets sold by United and British Airways involving a connection/feeder flight on EI shorthaul, you will have the luggage allowance stated on your eticket for the Aer Lingus sector(s), and you will be allowed to bring onboard 1 carry-on 10kg bag (you also need to observe EI's dimension/size limits). You will also have Priority Boarding for your Aer Lingus flights (even if this isn't specifically noted on the boarding pass). You will not be able to select a seat for the Aer Lingus sector online - neither the UA nor EI websites will allow you to select seats on Aer Lingus - but if you contact Aer Lingus, theyshould be able to give you your choice of standard seat without charge. It would help if you can already quote the EI PNR; it's a 6-digit code starting with 2, and you might be able to find it by plugging in your UA reference in the EI app (no personal experience with UA bookings; this workaround of using the app to discover the EI PNR does work, however, for BA-issued tickets). It might also be noted somewhere on your e-ticket or confirmations from United; have a close look. It'll be of the format 2XXXXX Note that you cannot book yourself into an AerSpace seat although your United leg(s) are in business class; these are only available to customers travelling on tickets issued by Aer Lingus. When United and British Airways sell tickets involving a feeder on Aer Lingus, the short EI leg will always be in Economy class, regardless of the class of travel of your UA or BA flight. To the best of my knowledge, it is also not possible to "buy up" to sitting in AerSpace even if you offer to pay. |
Thank you! That's quite the find; I've never seen that page before!
United make finding the EI PNR very straightforward; it's listed just under their own PNR. I attached a screenshot in case anyone else needs to find it in future. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...f1ee643b96.png United "Trip Details" view (PNRs blanked out) |
Enjoy the trip!
