FT rules require a few paragraphs of summary so members can decide whether or not to click through to the article.

Aer Lingus is to fly five of its largest aircrafts packed with health supplies from China in a daily coronavirus mercy mission for Ireland.

Dozens of its pilots who volunteered to help with the humanitarian operation were sorting their visas in the Chinese Embassy in Dublin on Wednesday.

The airline plans to send over its Airbus A330 passenger planes to Beijing up to 60 times to collect medical equipment ordered by the HSE.

I don't begrudge the Americans who are trying to get home.

Or the Irish trying to escape the meltdown the US is about to experience

This is all about logistics to move freight around, a lot of high value business currently with the large Pharma business here

China ops is entirely a A330-300
4 flights to arrive today 2 landed, 2 inbound
No outbound flights today, 1 tomorrow. Either the Russians playing up with overflight rights or an issue with slots at PEK

PEK is currently receiving barely a quarter of the flights it was originally scheduled to receive in recent days. Slots for adhoc operations in the current climate are not an issue.

I also really doubt that the Russians have - between yesterday and today - decided that they are not happy with having given EI clearance to overfly. Russian overflight rights are expensive, and they are missing out on lots of fees on this revenue stream as most airlines that paid such fees no longer have services operating.

Then its apron space on to park and load in PEK or the factory is behind and there is no point flying out

The was talk of slots with the Ambassador last week being an issue

Can you explain what you mean?

Meanwhile: Some of the PPE delivered via these flights has been described as "not fit for purpose" by medical staff
