New Shannon Routes

Aer Lingus have announced two new routes from Shannon for the Summer 2020 schedule - Paris CDG and Barcelona. Nice to see some non-bucket and spade routes being started from Shannon.

Shannon Airport Press Release

Can't see any timetables on the EI website yet, but CDG will be 4x weekly from March 29th and BCN 3x weekly from May 2nd.

On the Initial transatlantic A321LR routes thread there was some speculation about how EI could utilise the frames at Shannon and I guess this answers (most of) that question. They can utilise an LR for the EI380/381 morning rotation to Heathrow and release the A320ceo for these routes, or vice versa.

It'll also be interesting to see if this generates some useful transfer business for Shannon on the TATL routes.

On the cloudy side, probably no opportunity for connecting tickets into Europe for local passengers.

Could probably set up some code shares with Iberia (plus other IAG airlines like vueling and air europa in future) to connect on from BCN?

EI does have an interline with a long list of carriers who serve BCN and CDG, https://www.aerlingus.com/travel-inf...rtner-airlines so through ticketing, baggage etc are possible

That's true - was more thinking of CDG than BCN when I wrote that.

If Aer Lingus would codeshare with Vueling as BA/IB do, then it could be a really useful alternative to connecting via LHR in either location.
