Slow service normal? SFO-DUB
First time flying Aer Lingus long haul and was really surprised at how slow the service for. For an overnight flight of 9.5 hours, it took almost 3.5 hours for them to complete the first meal service in economy. Given that they also served the pre-landing meal 2 hours before arrival, it left only 3 ish hours of the flight to relax without a lot of disturbance. Is this normal for Aer Lingus or was this particular crew just very slow?
Overall the seats and entertainment were good, food was meh, service was pretty poor and speed super slow. I would fly again since the direct route saves a ton of time, but might just start bringing my own food.

Can confirm this isn’t a one off. EI’s own menu in economy says meals will be served before 3 hours from departure. This trip it took a solid 3:45 sitting near the back. Luckily they held the second meal was held until we were only an hour and half from landing. No idea what takes so long given it’s a pretty standard economy meal and they don’t even give out extra drinks after the bar service.

Keep your expectations really low and you won't be too disappointed with EI. (Queue the defenders who will be on here soon to defend the indefensible). Used to be a loyal EI customer ex. DUB, now do everything I can to avoid them. Bringing your own food on board is a good first step. Cannot negate the elderly and surly flight attendants however.
