Boarding pass - different time shown
i took an Aer Lingus flight recently. The time shown on the boarding time was the gate *closing time* instead of the boarding time! Almost missed my flight :-( Anyone know why they do that? Good to know if any other airline does that .... |
Looking at my Apple wallet I have old boarding passes for BA, EI, AA and EK flights. EI shows the (final) boarding time and the other three show the flight departure time. Not sure if paper boarding passes are different but personally I prefer that the EI pass shows the boarding time - eg on my last LHR-DUB flight we left the gate 10 mins early and landed 29 mins ahead of schedule 👍 |

Good to know if any other airline does that .... I prefer a gate closing indicator rather than nominal boarding time as usually can get this from the screens in the airport and gate closing time gives you a cut off time but that's just me I can see arguments for both (ideally they could give you multiple times like BA). |
The airport issued boarding cards (and I can only talk about the ones with Aer Lingus in the green band at the top show
1. Gate Closes (-25 minutes to departure) boarding in Dublin starts at least 35 minutes before departure if there are no hold ups 2. Time (departure) This is the standard online boarding pass. Boarding time and departure time clearly shownhttps://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...fbd024a03f.png |
Interesting that they place different time stamp types on different boarding passes (Boarding on paper on the online BP, gate close on the app).
Slightly off topic but I do find it curious seeing frequent fliers use online paper printed BPs instead of the app these days. Each to their own obviously but printing the online one seems like added hassle to me. |
Multi city, need I say more there is work in progress to fix this
Plus Dusseldorf has serious issues with mobile boarding passes getting rejected and in turn the manifest gets messed up and according to Aer Lingus there are flights I never flew on as a result even though Aer Lingus admit I purchased food onboard... |

I have never understood some passengers’ reluctance to show up ahead of time.... |
