Its going to be something beef and something chicken

You can opt for a full 3 course on a real plate with wine option in advance for some each cash

Yes, the famous Aer Lingus "Chicken or beef?" where chicken is often chunks swimming in an unknown sauce and beef can be anything from beef ravioli to pasta bolognese to ... not much else usually. We always eat before we board and skip the meals.

Basically paying the EUR25 to ''upgrade'' your meal makes it like Y class meals used to be.

3 course meal yesterday on Dub-LAX, was awful, certainly the beef option, save your money, regular meal looked just as good, looked like they had a beef and rice option, and a pasta option.

I couldn't fault it on my trip to SFO last month, beef was good and better than I've had before.

EI had improved the Y catering in the last year or so after a bad slump
