And if you stick in a day in Dublin on the way back or are happy to split tickets and take the risk involved, you can also avoid the ridiculous UK luxury tax on long-haul flights.

Jet Blue/EI codeshares
On airlineroute:
JetBlue has issued application to the US Department of Transportation, seeking permission to place AerLingus “EI” code on its flights. Planned codeshare operation is to start as early as 01APR13, subject to approval. Planned AerLingus/JetBlue codeshare service to cover 33 domestic US routes.

It makes no sense, and they should have a full interline relationship between the two, even if one has to buy multiple tickets which makes no sense considering Aer Lingus is at the JetBlue terminal and should have access to everything at the Terminal. Someone from Aer Lingus should get direct access to Hawaii from Ireland with a connection at JFK on Hawaiian airlines for a seamless trip as well as connections on JetBlue.

I was thinking that. In my initial message I posted about UA, but I looked at the map and it is only connections from Chicago. JFK to SFO is not included.
Carriers will do what is in their interests which is why each carrier is aligned with partners making connections between other airlines difficult. But in reality I don't see why Aer Lingus doesn't get access to all flights out of JetBlue's T5 for connections since it is already there.
No clue but for those who don't mind a connection flight at DUB to LON, Aer Lingus is an excellent low cost carrier to get to London and those Jetblue connection flights should do well.

That thought did pop into my head. United are never my first choice, so I end up not flying Aer Lingus because they align with them. Quite frankly if I have to make a connection anyway from SFO to DUB, I have plenty of other alternatives to choose from. I would be willing to do a code share from SFO or OAK for that matter with Jetblue and EI, but I'm not going to San Jose to do it. Only reason I would fly out of San Jose is if it was a direct flight to Dublin.

I am by JFK so any Aer Lingus flights would be direct to DUB. But if I went somewhere from Jetblue I would have access to all their flights.
