How much connection time in ATH to switch from Alitalia to Aegean?

I will be taking Alitalia from Rome to Athens, then want to take Aegean to Rhodes. The Alitalia flight arrives at 12:30 PM. There is an Aegean flight to Rhodes at 2:50 PM. There is another thread on this in which 90 minutes was considered too short for the same connection. Assuming Alitalia arrives on time, shouldn't 2 hours and 20 minutes be long enough for a safe connection?

we will be flying Heraklion - Athens and connecting to a flight to Corfu 40 minutes later on a seperate ticket. Will this be a long enough connection time? We will be flying in early June.

It's doable, especially if you only have carryon luggage, but tight. Even a 15 minute delay could make the connection problematic.
