EK and A3 expand agreements to include ATH - EWR

" We've expanded our partnership with @Aegeanairlines to include Emirates' fifth freedom flights between Athens and Newark. 🏛️✈️🗽 emirat.es/1lpd5i"

Now if only we could earn M&B status miles on EK as part of this partnership. That would make a nice mileage run.

For example, people from the USA or the UAE flying to Greece (or elsewhere) for their vacation and connecting (to the islands or elsewhere) using A3 instead of SkyExpress or Volotea. Or, a completely different case, flying from the USA to Africa and getting to their destination faster than having to go through Dubai on one ticket. Clearly not particularly helpful to Greeks or Western Europeans but, as you most certainly are aware, there are "aliens" living on planet Earth.

PS Using the term aliens according to George Mikes' great book "How to be an alien".

I do do get that but I think A3 must be the only airline that doesnt give you points on some its code shared flights.

By using your Aegean-branded credit card issued by Alpha Bank you can earn 5 miles for every Euro spent, as long as you buy your EK ticket through Aegean's website / app.

As far as I know this is not true for *A, where metal counts.

If so, then that probably then comes with not being able to redeem A3 miles for EK flights.

Given A3’s pattern of charging fuel surcharges on A3-issued award tickets for partner airline-operated flights, I likely wouldn’t want to redeem for EK flights anyway and instead stick to using them for SK long-haul and some other stuff.

It’s sort of helpful to Greece-based flyers who want to fly to the NYC area without a connection outside of Greece.

I guess that Gold status held with A3 won't be recognised by EK on the codeshared flights.
