Aegean airlines notification ?
We have a short flight from ATH to HER, so only under 1H duration - I received an email with the subject of AEGEAN AIRLINES NOTIFICATION -
For me, it says, "The seat you had initially requested is no longer available. However, we have already made sure that you are given a similar seat number." and I see I am assigned an exit row in 28A.
For my wife, it says, "The seat number you had booked is no longer available, and we are not able to find one with the same characteristics that will match your needs. For this reason in case you had paid for this seat we will refund you the amount via the same payment method you used to pay for it." with no seat assignment.
Previously we had seats in row 11 on the booking. If I select a seat for her next to me they want to charge the fee for extra legroom. There are no 2 seats next to each other in the front. What is my best option to proceed? I assume we want seat assignments.
Bonus question? flight leaving ATH at 1:10, what time do we need to be at the airport for 2 people who only speak english and have never been to ATH? Is getting the Security Fast Pass worthwhile?

Sorry, not exactly replying to the original question here, but since it's about Aegean's notifications, take this from me:
Don't trust them!
On my last flight we had all boarded by 08:09a.m. ("boarding completed" was heard and the airplane's door was closed!), scheduled departure from the gate was at 08:10a.m., at 08:12 the pilot made a PA to say we'd be delayed by 6-7 minutes and at 08:29a.m., after we had left the gate (!!) we got a notification that our flight's departure would be delayed until 08:30a.m.
Why would you send any kind of notification 20 minutes after boarding completed and door closed (when the pilots or flight attendants can provide information if needed!)? Go figure.
These exact misleading notifications about the flight being delayed caused us to actually for the first time ever miss our flight the day before (us and other passengers too), while no PAs were made at all! (there were other circumstances that played a role in that story, but those notifications were at least one of them)

It is not oversold as there are plenty of seats to select in the back and plenty of extra legroom seats that I can pay to select. Just confused as to why we were kicked out of the selected seats and why my wife was not given a seat.

From your seat numbers, it seems that your original aircraft was a 320 (exit row at #11) but there was an aircraft change to 321neo which has exit rows at 28 (lots of legroom).
if you say there are plenty of exit seats available but not given to you, then its something for the airline to sort out. Give them a call
