50% off (excl. taxes/surcharges) with code (book by 25 Sep fly by 30 Nov) [Targeted]

As the title states, I just received an e-mail according to which all tickets to international destinations can get a 50% discount (obviously, this applies only to the net fare price and not the airport fees / surcharges).
Feel free to look around for some interesting fares and post them here to let us know if you find any nice deals! My guess is, that some of the nice prices that existed with the 30% promotion will have gotten even "nicer". :) I just hope the following condition "The promotional code can only be used by the recipient of this email, and it is prerequisite that the specific email is used during the booking." is not the "catch" and that all of you (or at the very least all newsletter receipients) can use the code.
Here's the website.

Ive received the email too. Not bad at all - business class AMS-ATH for 100 euro for example.

The only thing to realise with these kind of fares is that making changes will be an expensive thing to do, as you are rebooking against non-discounted prices. In such cases it may even be better to ask for a refund (20 euro penalty) and then rebook with a discount code.

I tried it without having received the email - doesn't work for me.
When I log in with my credentials, it says "promo code cannot be redeemed for this flight".

Thats odd; it works for me even when not logged in.

You have to enter the code in the fight search form, and the discounted price is only shown after you have clicked on a specific fare. So you do have to select a fare to see the discount, the overview shows the regular prices.

The "promo code cannot be redeemed for this flight" message comes at the following step once you have entered your email adress.

The discount works for me as well, even I haven't received any promo email from A3.

I can confirm the same experience.

Once you give your contact details and move on to the next step ("seat selection"), you get the message that the "promo code cannot be redeemed for this flight" and price is reversed (see attached).

I think that this part of the rules may be the issue:

The promotional code can only be used by the recipient of this email, and it is prerequisite that the specific email is used during the booking.

So it seems that only a subset of all customers has been selected for this promo; and you need to use your specific email address for this to work. I guess that theoretically you could book, with a different name, using one of the email addresses that did qualify for the discount. As long as you have access to at least one email address that was selected for the promo (friend/relative).

This thread reminded me (once again) why vouchers are not the same as refunds: Vouchers cannot be used in conjunction with promo codes. In other words, to take advantage of the 50% off promo, I would have to shell out more money to A3, even though they still owe me ~1000 euros in cancelled flights.

Oh well.

It would be interesting to see what they say if someone phones up and asks for the promo code to be used together with the voucher. Would it be possible, and would they apply the service centre fee?

Didn't get the code. Wonder whoem they are targeting with this.

But then again, i have more tickets to greece then is wise right now.

I phoned A3 today to ask about this. You cannot combine a voucher and the discount so you have to choose either the 50% off or use your voucher. Pretty bad move if you ask me

Pretty disgraceful, I'd say. The Credit Voucher is supposed to a full form of payment (after all, it is basically a sorry excuse for not giving a refund). It is not a promotion or discount, therefore it should be possible to use a promotional code and then apply the Credit Voucher as payment. Basically they are excluding customers from benefiting from promotions unless they are willing to put more cash Aegean's way. In my opinion, during this pandemic Aegean has behaved pretty atrociously.

Carpacchio Sep 15, 2020 8:34 am

True - but they need all the money they can get...
