ATH airport extension and lounges

Hello,

The ATH extension is underway and I think it might finsih before summer. I read somewhere online that they're planning to create three new lounges and a whole new CIP floor and a whole new CIP check in area.

Nothing specifically mentioned about A3 but I'm pretty sure they will have a new lounge

Has anyone heard anything?

I saw the construction but have no idea about planning. And the construction was in the non-schengen side only. Maybe someone else can help on this topic.

So apparently a new CIP area (or at least a new lounge) is indeed coming.

The company adds a total of 8 new destinations from Thessaloniki (6 international and 2 domestic), and invests in the upgrade of the overall passenger experience with a new 500m2 lounge.

I am looking forward to this, hoping it's going to be an upgrade compared to the current very mediocre one!

Interesting stats in that article.

* Early next year the first 6 A321 NEO's will be taken into service. Presumably more will follow later in the year.
* End of 2020 the fleet will consist of 65 aircraft. Current fleet is 61 aircraft so that means that some portion of existing aircraft will be replaced by A32x's?
* SKG to get 6 new international routes (Barcelona, Brussels, Rome, Milan, Zurich, Berlin)
* CFU to get 1 new international route (CDG)
* ATH to get 4 new international routes (Bilbao, Nuremberg, Paphos, Birmingham)
* 47 existing routes to get capacity increases (Though that can simply mean switching a 1-weekly A320 for an A321).

What I've heard is that their new lounges will be much bigger and with direct bus boarding exactly like it is in their lounge at Thessaloniki (SKG)
