Aegean Redemption Ticket Availability from Ercan/Tympou, North Cyprus
Aegean is to be congratulated on their political neutrality with respect to the Cyprus problem. I have just booked a redemption return flight from ECN in North Cyprus to Hurghada in Egypt in business class via IST. The cost was €261.42 plus 50k miles.
Initially, I tried to book on MS via CAI but the Aegean website claimed that this required two tickets. THY should learn from Aegean: their website totally excludes any mention of the Republic of Cyprus and it is impossible to either book a ticket or maintain Miles and Smiles membership using a ROC address and telephone number. |
Of course THY is pretty much state-owned, while Aegean is not. And we all know how the Tukrish government feels about the whole Cyprus problem, so I am not surprised with THYs attitude at the least.

The Greeks have matured a lot with regards the Cyprus occupation where as the Turks still have a long way to go. I travelled to Northern Cyprus 20 years ago when it was impossible to cross and to get from one side to the other you would have had to fly LCA-ATH/ATH-IST-ECN or something similar. I spent a week travelling around the whole of the North. Certainly an interesting experience.
I presume if you had a ticket LCA-ATH-IST and put your M&S TK card number in then TK would credit the miles for LCA-ATH. TK is very much a talk shop for the government where as Aegean is more open and neutral. |
