SK Operated Flight, EY Flight # and issued by EY - Able to Credit to A3?

EY is having some cheap business fares ex-ARN ending today. The routings have a codeshare for the first sector ARN - BRU/ZRH/FCO and these are operated by SK (but have an EY flight number)

Would it be possible to retroactively credit these to A3 to earn status miles?

Thanks for the help!

I highly doubt if you would earn any miles at all. Etihad is a codeshare partner, not an airline earning partner.

To earn any status miles, the flight has to be marked as star alliance flight with a star alliance carrier. Etihad code does not qualify as a star alliance marked flight.

I will be happy to be proved wrong. But I will say no until someone show me the prove.

When he arrives at the airport he will see the SK flight number and also all the other codeshare numbers. He can simply put the SK number when he claims the miles. It sounds like you are suggesting that this particular SK flight operates flights on behalf of EY which is a bit obsene.

Obscene? I agree that I also thought about the "solution" that you proposed, but calling the post obscene? I tried hard to detect a trace of kinky sex, pornography, deviant behaviour, whatever, but I, unfortunately, utterly failed.

StarAlliance is by metal, so can earn based on SK.

Hey guys
Appreciate the inputs.
I posted the question as the flight had an EY number which made me think it wouldnt post.

But I did book the flight in the end and I'm flying in less than 2 weeks so I'll update on the progress.

Should I give the SAS check in staff my A3 number or would it be better to retroactively claim it after the flight is taken?

You can give the SAS check-in staff your A3 number and retroactively claim it if it doesn't work...

Like KLouis indicates, I would provide the number at check in, if that doesn't work try again at the check in counter, and if you don't see A3 somewhere on your printed boarding pass, try again at the gate.

If all falls, retroclaim.

Ok so heres the outcome:

Gave SAS my A3 number - it shows up on BP as A3*G
No miles posted, but I did retroactive claim online and it posted immediately =)

Thanks guys!

Good to hear, OTOH, this is expected as the rules for *A is the operating carrier and not the flight/ticket number issued with. As long as the operating carrier is a *A carrier, you can input your *A number and even access the lounge if you have status.

Cheers!
