understanding how to get to the gold status

AmI correct to assume the following?

Fly 4 segments with Aegean.
First 12000 miles upgrade you to silver and the next 12000 miles upgrade you to Gold so 24000 miles in total?

or is it:

Fly 4 segments with Aegean.
First 12000 miles upgrade you to silver and the next 24000 miles upgrade you to Gold so 24000 miles in total?

Neither, I’m afraid!

When you reach Silver your year restarts and you have a further 12 months to qualify for Gold.

You need the miles (or miles plus segments) to reach Silver.

On top of that, you need the miles to reach Gold.

Using your example, you need 2 segments plus 12k miles to Silver.

You then need a further 4 segments and 24k miles to Gold - so a total of 6 segments and 36,000 miles - although the reset at Silver means you get more time to do this.

Thanks for your input.
Let's say I cross silver with 2000 miles.
Meaning the last flight gets me at 14000 miles.
Does the extra 2000 miles count tworads gold stats qualification?

Yes!

I think also you get a new qualification date again once you are gold so your silver date may be short lived.

When you fly (as a Blue member) 14K miles, and that includes two Aegean segments you will:

- Qualify for silver
- Have 2K miles left over for your Gold qualification.

Your Gold qualification period starts the moment that you reach silver, and you'll have one year to get to Gold. As you start with 2K miles you will only need to:

- Fly 22K miles
- Fly 4 additional Aegean segments

From that moment on, assuming you keep flying a minimum of 4 Aegean segments per year, you'll only need 12K miles per year. If you earn more than 12K miles they will not count towards your re-qualification the next year (This is only the case if you go up a level, e.g. from Blue to Silver).

Is there an indication i.e. countdown in the account? So you'll know when to reach it?

It shows what you need to reach the next level, and the date at which you need to have done so. Eg it can tell you that you still need 3 Aegean segments + 20K miles, or 44K miles on any carrier to reach gold.

On a PC/Mac browser, log into "My Aegean" on the top right corner, then Miles+Bonus -> My Miles+Bonus account.
Scroll down and you will see something like this.

To maintain my tier I still need:2 Aegean or Olympic Air flights
or 1,574 Tier miles regardless of the partner airline
Up to 23/11/2018
(that is my account as an example)

Hi everyone, I have a question about requalifying for Gold.

Does the requalification period begin immediately after the last flight that brings me to Gold, even if the next flight is on the same day?

For example, an OA flight from SKG to ATH crosses the 24000-mile and 4-flight point to bring me from silver to gold on 1 December 2018 at 11am.

Then at 12pm on the same day I take another A3 flight from ATH to MUC. Would the miles and flight segment from this flight go towards requalification?

Has anyone encountered any problems with this?

I would think so - the system should track the exact flight when you cross the threshold and then re-qualification should start.
Now - it could be that in this specific case, the IT isn't able to keep up with it, and you would need to call in to clarify the situation.

Thank you Carpacchio!

If anyone has any first-hand experience with this, it would be great to hear!

Yes it is as described. I became Gold after JTR-ATH, connecting to ATH-FRA. The miles and qualifying segment of ATH-FRA counted for re-qualification.
You might even be in for a surprise

Do you need the A3 segment to qualify for Gold or do you need the miles ?

Are you referring to the first qualification from silver to gold? If so, I need the miles from the last flight before qualification as I will already have 4 flight segments by then.

So for example:

As of 1 December 2018, 10am - 4 A3/OA flights taken, 23000 miles, silver status.
1 December 2018 11am - 5th A3 flight, 24000 miles
1 December 2018 12pm - 6th A3 flight, 25000 miles

Would it make a difference? I suppose the 5th A3 flight will not carry forward for requalification? Or will it?
