* The small fishing village of Aliki is 4.5km away, but some of the buses stop there too. This is a much more relaxing place for a nice meal and a swim if you're just here for a few hours.

Rhodes RHO

* Buses: regular (30 minutes at peak, a bit more irregular off peak) bus to Rhodos Bus station, takes 20 to 35 minutes depending on traffic and road rules violations. 2.60 EUR ticket, paid cash to driver. The bus stop is 100 m left of the arrival area. The bus station in Rhodos is a couple of hundred meters away from the harbor and the Old Town entrance

* Small airport - on grounds of air force base - far away from everything
* There is a bus service from/to chora (Skyros Town) which is synchronised with OA arrivals/departures, however car rental is cheap (<30 euro a day) and will make exploring the island easier.
* One of the cheapest OA destinations at 60 euro r/t pretty much year round.
* Direct turnaround will be difficult; one is supposed to have checked in and passed through security when the incoming flight is unloaded.
