With the evolution of the Miles&Bonus program, there are a number of threads on this forum that contain outdated information, plus a further set that - whilst describing the new program - contain conflicting information that has only been crystallised as we all discover how certain aspects of the program either work or are interpreted.
It is perhaps therefore unsurprising that many new members find searching through this myriad of threads a little daunting, and consequently they post a question in one of the FAQ threads.
This tends to irk those who've been around for a while who expect the new posters to at least do some basic searching before posting a question that has probably been asked many times before. This also causes the forums to become very congested and less easy to read through with the same question being asked and answered many times.
I am therefore creating a thread, which will be stickied, for anyone to ask any question they like about the M&B program where they are unsure or it's not obvious where they should be posting it.
There is no such thing in this thread as a stupid question, no issue with asking a repeat question, and any answers should be 100% flame-free. I will take a dim view of anyone that abuses a member or provides a less than helpful answer (such as 'do a search') to any question asked in here, because this is being created to benefit all of us so the other threads flow more cleanly. Thank you for your co-operation on this.
It might be that I move questions to more appropriate threads so they receive an answer more quickly, but if I do so I will always add a note to indicate where they originated, and ask that the flame-free answer principle be respected.

My first question is: Do I qualify for *Gold? I have been using Great Circle Mapper to work out the calculations. Is that the best way to do it? Or do airlines have specific mileage for specific routes. TK told me they credit 1250 for Y from IST-ATH. Therefore, do I calculate 100% of 1250 or 100% of actual geographical miles. Can anyone clarify?
For a 100% earning fare, assuming no or exceeded minimum miles, you should use 100% of the actual distance. What TK awards in Miles&Smiles is most likely not the same as A3 awards in M&B for the same route.

GC Map is about as good a ready-reckoner as any other tool, but you should not rely on the result absolutely because actual miles awarded will vary (usually by no more than a few 10's of miles).

Your earning and qualification year will change, so you'll get 365 days. When your card arrives, you'll find it'll have an expiry about two months on (to allow time for the new card to arrive) so even if you don't meet the re-qual requirements you'll get 14 months of *G.

You can start earning on any day you like! Everyone has their own personal year end - it's just that many fall on Nov 24th because that's when A3 started the new M&B. Anyone starting will scratch will have something completely different.

Is there a lounge accessible to A3 pax (Biz and/or Gold) in HER?
It seems like a lot of the flights from secondary cities and to secondary cities e.g. MTZ-HER, DUS-HER have no Business Cabin? Gosh, that's disappointing.

Ok, this answers my
:
I've never been through the non-Schengen part of the airport; that takes care of the Evropi lounge. Then, none of them is used by A3. No way they would not have them available during the winter, on Tuesdays (Filoxenia) and after departure of the first flight (and during the summer, also the last). My guess is that they are both run by a "handler" who doesn't handle A3, and they cater for other companies. HER is flown by several companies during the summer months and almost uniquely by A3 in the winter.

Well, probably indirectly. Most of the non-A3 flights, I'm guessing, are from charter companies. Certainly from the UK (particularly LGW, but also many regional airports), companies like Thomson and Thomas Cook offer package holidays to many of the Greek islands, with Crete being high on the list. There's simply not enough demand, particularly from the regional airports, to sustain those flights other than at peak Summer time (ie school holidays and a little outside).
That would mean, to address the original question, there would be insufficient demand to open the lounge in the winter with only A3 traffic.
