ADD THE AEGEAN BOOKING FEE
Thanks for your reply. For a future reference, does the aegean booking fee vary per flight or are they fixed for a particular airline?

As far as I know that fee is a fixed amount. You must have booked 2 one ways?

Are taxes and fees (e.g., YQ) refunded when canceling a *A award ticket? I couldn't find anything in the T&C.

From the route I assume it is on TG all the way?

Did you book as 2 one-way segments or is the whole itinerary considered a single-segment?

HND-BKK on TG

BKK-SIN on SQ

The 2 segments are issued together, the transit in BKK does not cause an increase in miles required. Still 21k miles for 1 way C.

If not, you just have to ask to forward the request to the Rate Desk of Aegean every time you want to book an award (at least, if the amount of taxes seem to high).
Thats inevitable anyway, I think you can't just tell the agent "Your amount of taxes is wrong, but thankfully for you I know the right amount..."
So, it's nice to know the amount of taxes I have to pay. But I still have to ask the agent to contact the rate desk, because the agent can't change anything, and apparently, they always quote the wrong amount of taxes first (I'm assuming that because of Toronto1970's blog, I haven't tried it yet.)
I have the same problem. Aegean computer system are calculating the taxe ( including the 12% Guatemalan sales tax) on a full fare economy ticket Tax for *award with COPA should be $33,85 (24 Euro) but have to pay one way GUA PTY GIG 24 Euro Fee + 72 Euro( XB sales taxes 12%) + Booking Fee 20 Euro+ Total 116 Euro I was calling 10 times to explain the problem, but the always telling me this problem comes from Copa the at the xb 12%. Aegean canot do anything to wave this fee. Finally i was paying the fee to book the flight. I will write a letter to customer service, but before i like to hear from others if its
true that Copa Ats this fee for star alliance partner awards .

It would be nice someone can help me to solve this problem. thanks Lobo

Thanks for the info. I'm still not sure on the procedure/rules on redeeming *A flights with A3.

Does it mean if a direct route is unavailable (from being blocked by operating carrier and/or fully booked), a stopover is allowed without having to book as 2 separate itineraries?

At the same time, what are the rules/miles required for upgrading? E.g. I'm planning to purchase a TG C/D/J(unconfirmed) tix SIN-BKK-NRT. What's required for an upgrade to First using A3 miles?

Thanks in advance.

See this link for A3

Different programmes have different rules.

http://en.aegeanair.com/milesandbonu...n/spend-miles/

I wouldn't call this a stopover as a stopover is usually more than 24 hours, this is more of a transit.

And yes an award redemption allows 1 transit within 24 hours.

For upgrades, you need to buy a fare that is upgradeable and check if there's reward availability in say F and have the required miles for the upgrade.

I usually check star alliance availability using ANA. For more info I guess a simple google would yield some results.

SIN-BKK doesn't seem to have F

Bkk to nrt F on TG A380 seems to be loaded 14 days before departure.

And 747 F availability looks fine for me.

It might be a lucky draw as you don't know if you will get the new F or the old F but if it's the new one. Then great for you.

The TG forum has the tail number for the new F in 747

Redeemed PEK-ULN-PEK roundtrip on CA.

12500 miles one way x 2

TAX : EUR 5.78YQ EUR 70.56YR EUR 19.57XT
TOTAL : EUR 95.91

20 EUR booking fee.
I called 2 agents and both are charging YR (CA fuel surcharge) on redemption. I searched some previous posts and it seems all of them are paying YR for redeeming tickets with CA.

To answer my own question for anyone else interested:

I called M&B, and what the agent told me is that all the taxes and fees would be refunded, minus the A3 M&B booking and cancellation fees. The example I was given:

At the time of booking, I pay 100e, consisting of:
  • 80e taxes, fuel charges etc.
  • 20e A3 M&B booking fee

If I choose to cancel the award, I would get back 60e (80e taxes & fees of the flight, minus a 20e cancellation fee), along with all the award miles. This applies to "Tickets booked and issued from 15/09/2012 onwards" (from T&Cs).

I'm planning on expending 42,000 pts on a RT in J from SJC-AUA.

According to the A3 chart, AUA is in North America. But there are no flights SJC-AUA that involve only one connection, I see two choices:

SJC-IAH-EWR-AUA
-or-
SJC-IAH-PTY-AUA

PTY (Panama City) is in Central America, so I'm wondering if they will let me connect via PTY or just tell me that I have to connect to EWR, or maybe just that making two connections won't be permitted.

Anyone have any experience with this?
