typical oh wow, thanks for the correction, I hadn't visited the *A website in a while and I kind of took it for granted, that this benefit should be valid alliance-wide regardless of the fare type (I also based that on my experience with United, where there isn't even a free bag with a classic "star alliance economy" award ticket for domestic flights, however there is one if you're gold). Hmmm basically the LH group not allowing it... Says quite a lot about them .

Thanks all. Indeed, when proceeding it clearly said 1x 23 kg (free) - TIER GOLD. Luckily, Aegean is very consistent with their luggage allowance even on their Light fares.
LH Group is notorious for their strict luggage rules on their cheapest tickets.

It's why I tend to avoid LH. They're generally the meanest on everything (including mileage earnings, mileage transfer and expiry). Fortunately my domestic carrier (LO) has the same policy as A3.

These days SK is the worst. Sky high prices and very little when it comes to benefit unless you upcharge from basic economy. They have the same baggage policies as Ryanair with 3+ times the price.

Ι book an award ticket from KUL to ATH via IST.
Aegean sent me 3 mails for to bid for upgrade to business class. The minimum bid is 45 euros. Looks like they need some free space on the economy to avoid overbooking

Ever since Aegean introduced the upgrade bid thing, I've gotten multiple such emails for every award ticket I've booked (and I mean multiple to the point it gets annoying!). Perhaps the fact that this was the first time you received one could have something to do with your Aegean account and your email/notification/ad/privacy/newsletter settings?
I didn't know they offered this on single segments (I assume this only concerns the IST-ATH flight) of multi-segment itineraries though. But I guess it's better to make the offer available, than not to. If 45€ gets you (among other things) TK lounge access at IST.... man I'm dying to try that out!

I was at the Turkish lounge today. It’s nice but nothing crazy. The food made on the spot is a nice touch but other than that it’s alright.

I am trying to book a 3-segment trip in biz class, with no stop overs:
USA-Tokyo on UA
Tokyo-BKK on TG
BKK-HKG on TG

I see that USA-Tokyo (UA) and Tokyo-BKK-HKG (TG) are available as two separate trips on Aegean's website. On United's website, this trip is available as a single itinerary. I cannot book this because: (1) Tokyo does not allow tourists to enter Japan, and (2) booking two trips require 35K more miles.

Is it possible to book this on Aegean by calling? I spoke to one agent and she said awards cannot be issued for mixed airlines. However, I read somewhere else on the internet that Aegean does allow mixed carrier trips. So, what was your experience? Should I just call again and talk to another agent to try my luck? Thanks.

Mixed carrier trips are allowed (done it myself a couple of times), but as you've already been told in the other topic it won't matter if you book these 3 segments as a single itinerary or two, you will still get charged the miles for 2 trips, since only two segments are allowed for the price of a single award ticket (some rare exceptions exist, where the plane would make a quick stop to pick up passengers and fuel and carry on its trip, like EVA Air does at BKK, but that's not the case with your desired connections). Can't you "prove" to authorities in Japan that you're only transiting by simy showing them your ticket for your next flight which probably departs in a couple of hours? Or will you first have to "clear" immigration there and go landside? It might help then to book the first 2 segments as a single ticket and leave the last segment separately (if you can't get an agent to book all 3 together, albeit for the higher number of miles, which by the way if you don't have, you can still fly as far as BKK and then it shouldn't cost much to get from there to your final destination by buying or redeeming elsewhere).

I tried speaking to an A3 agent to get her to book: USA-Tokyo-BKK with the first segment on UA and second on TG. I know that both are available (verified on United.com and A3's own website). However, she said she did not see any opening, though United shows that this can be ticketed as one trip.
Is there any strategy to reach a competent and willing A3 agent to help?

Which route exactly is the USA - Tokyo trip and what's the layover time at Tokyo? Is there an airport change there (NRT/HND)? Aegean doesn't allow layovers longer than 24 hours according to the T&C's, but they will very often not allow the first segment + layover to be longer than 24 hours! If the total travel time (1st segment, layover, 2nd segment) is quite long, then this connection will appear way down on the results list that the agent should see, so he/she will have to keep scrolling down until it appears (if it's originating around the east cost, then they'll probably have to scroll past dozens of connections via Europe/Turkey). I've also found quite a few award tickets with connections that require an airport change, but the latter could potentially also be a reason as to why one particular connection won't show up (or maybe not, just guessing).
All that assuming that there isn't any married segments issue or such with those segments and Aegean's award system. The fact that they appear on United's website as one doesn't necessarily mean that they should also appear on Aegean's website as one. Is that ticket on United's site a "saver" award (the one with both segments together, not the individual awards, which you also saw on Aegean's website)? I've seen this happening a bunch of times with Aegean, regardless of the (short) connection time, say TG first class was available for both a Europe-BKK and a BKK-Tokyo flight with just 4-6 hours connection time at BKK, but the system wouldn't book both segments in one go, even though you could book them individually on Aegean's website and even though you could book other, longer connections!
You can also try an alternative search on the phone, your goal is to reach HKG, did you simply try asking for a more direct route (for example with just 1 stop) to HKG from the US or simply tell them "search US - BKK or US - HKG" and got nothing available in business class? You can usually get more results to show up on the agent's screen than on your own, which are always limited. Like I'm getting a lot of "hits" on Eva Air flights out of LAX (with a single stop, so for 75k miles), a business class, which I still haven't flown, but which I would go out of my way to try out, before ending up on a UA flight .

giorginho Thank you for your reply.
At Tokyo, there is no airport change. Nor is the transit longer than 24 hours. Both the UA USA-Tokyo and the TG Tokyo-BKK segments are available on A3's website. They are just not available when combined.
I do notice that all the multi-segment flights shown on A3's website are operated by the same carrier. So, as you mentioned, multi-carrier flights are just way down on the screen for the operator to scroll to.

For flights to HKG, the agent told me one option on BR. However, this is useless to me because TPE disallows transits by non-Taiwanese nationals.

It could be way down on the list, or it could be the married segments issue (can't really explain it, don't fully understand it myself). Again, is the combined ticket on United's website listed under "saver award"?
