Yes, and if I understood what it meant I probably won't be asking.

Anyway, the agent quoted €23.76 which is on par with what the UA website mentioned ^

My first experience with the A3 call centre:

Called yesterday to check on the taxes, as above, and got the correct €23.76 (USD5.00 9/11 fee and €20 booking fee). Line got disconnected before I could continue.

Woke up today and called them again using Skype, and was through to an agent with no waiting. She spoke good English but quoted me €76, which is inclusive of all sorts of revenue ticket taxes. She wouldn't budge and I knew I was going nowhere.

My next 3 calls never got beyond the language selection, for some reason.

On the 4th time I got the correct quote again (phew!) and the ticket was issued in 15 minutes. Great agent who spoke excellent English ^

Not the best call centre I've come across but waaaaay better than the Avianca one, which is a nightmare at best.

checking my first redemption with A3 M&B, I have slightly over 75k miles.

Am I correct that I can book a one way in F from LHR to PEK? (ie TG LHR-BKK, BKK-PEK) for 75k miles?

The redemption chart unfortunately does not specify which city is in what region. PEK could both be in Near east as well as Far East. I remember BD had HKG in Near East and BKK in Far East.

Thanks SilverChris, I could not find that somehow. Checked the sticky and the spending page. It means that all my destinations will be in the far east and no BMI loopholes

Does A3 have an MPM rule or something? I tried to book LAX-EWR-YYZ on United but they said not a valid routing . HUACA got me the same agent ...

Issued my first SA award ticket

Just called A3 service desk in Greece and redeemed my first ever star alliance reward ticket using miles & bonus points.

Business one-way ticket, 21000 miles deducted:

CA 176 PVG to PEK
SQ 803 PEK to SIN

I was charged Euro 157 for BAF and service fee, however I have checked for both Air China and Singapore Airlines and found out that the service fee totalled around 105 Euro, it would be 125 Euro plus 20 Euro Aegean service charge...not sure how they came up with the 157 Euro...

Anyway...can't wait to experience the flight...

Yes, A3 uses IATA MPM.

So there is per say no chance one could book HND-SIN-PEK, by giving the agent the flight segments separately? I.e dodging the MPM bullet. To HKG that is possible, but not sure what the case is for other destinations.

Of course there is a chance. Agents are inconsistent in implementing any policy - it's just the question of calling at the right time.

Wanted to stop by IAH for the weekend on my way from TPA to MKE. United wanted to charge $534 for the privilege of IAH - MKE direct and indirects weren't much better. Especially when TPA-MKE via IAH on the same IAH-MKE flight was available for $120... Did a quick search on United for rewards availability and requested via A3 website.

Got called this afternoon and transaction took all of 5 minutes with 12,500miles and €27 in fees. Excellent call centre service.

Thoroughly pleased with the result and looking forward to using a few more A3 miles for trips like this. Thanks Aegean!

Booked a simple one-way ... United LAX-JFK in p.s. Business (I) class. For reference, United charges 25K miles + $2.50AY of tax + $75 for non-elites within 21 days of booking.

A3 charged 21K miles (expected) + 28,05€ (phew, no large taxes!). That comes out to about US$10.87 in taxes on top of 20€ booking fee. Matches up with US$2.50 AY + $4.50 ZF + $3.90 ZP = US$10.90 on ITA. Add 11.9˘ for a 24-minute call (most of it to wait for my credit card to go through). I don't mind!

Fortunately the US 7.5% tax wasn't calculated (or, at least it was calculated on 0 base fare!). ^

The agent spoke great English. Addressed me first in Greek, but was smooth sailing after that.

Also, I really like the hold music (much better than TK's!)

Ha! When I called Aegean a few weeks ago I was thinking to myself afterwards 'that hold music is really catchy, I wonder what song that is'. Thanks for that.

I was able to re-book to an earlier flight on the 2nd call. First time the agent noticed that the ticket was over MPM and refused to rebook. Second time I simply gave the agent all the instructions to which she obliged. Had already checked the availability on EF, and the re-booking was done in less than 10 minutes.

Quick question : does someone know first-hand if it is possible to book LH F with A3 miles ?

I suppose the availability appears @ T-14 ?

Thanks & regards,
