New regulation (Shanghai and Guangzhou) to stop hotel from providing toothbrushes

As you all aware that IHG and Marriott both announced to move away from small bottle toiletries by replacing with large bottle / dispenser. Me and my friend also saw some accor hotels in Malaysia and Indonesia (mercure and novotel) started to use shampoo dispenser. This might upset some people but this is a global movement to reduce single use plastic waste.

China has this even further with 2 major cities creating regulation to stop hotel from providing single use disposable items.

Few months back, Shanghai announced a new regulation on houswhold waste management, effective 1st July 2019, the listed disposable items shall not be provided in hotel room in Shanghai (hotel can provide to guest upon request)
  1. Toothbrushes
  2. Combs
  3. Bath wipes
  4. Razors
  5. Nail files
  6. Shoe wipes

And yesterday Guangzhou city announced the same reg with a very short notice, which will take effect on 1st Sep 2019.

So if you are travelling to these cities in China, don't let this ruin your stay experience, request if you need it.
