Upgrades for shorter or longer stays?

Hey there

I will have a 10 night stay at a Fairmont property in Ajman. What is your experience in general: Do you get (better) upgrades when you

- stay for a short time, so the hotel can resell the higher category rooms asap
- stay for a longer time, because the hotel appreciates the long stay?

BTW, I'm gold member

Thanks for your opinions!

Shorter time as sometimes the upgraded room is not available for the entire 10 nights

Good point. Hope there are available rooms when I arrive.

Does somebody have experiences with long stay upgrades?

Not at a Fairmont, although I was upgraded on a 25 night stay with Accor in June 2018. So it can happen for longer stays. I suspect it depends on how heavily the place is booked, although would agree upgrades generally come through for shorter stays.

Agree - sorter gives a better chance, also the days booked, as some properties do better upgrades at weekend and others during week.
