More info...

New Orient Express Hotels Brand Will Sit Between Raffles and Fairmont, Says Cahill

“We think there's a nice space between Fairmont and Raffles that is going to be a great opportunity for us. We're formulating the brand strategy right now. There are a couple of different ways we can go, but already we've had a bunch of people call and say, ‘Wow, that's interesting. Can we talk?’”
Cahill added that AccorHotels will need a bit more time to determine how to move the new brand forward, but that “it’s going to be a great addition. I see it in a very different space,” he said, referring to AccorHotels’ portfolio of luxe brands, which includes Raffles, Fairmont and Sofitel.

We look forward how this brand [OE] evolves, it's fascinating how Accor grows and we will have to wait and see for the time being how much Belmond will be influenced by these developments in the future.

Equally, Belmond is a fascinating brand and they've this OE heritage and aura about them, it's all about emotions for the guest who should decide which brand or niche they want to inhibit, this of course is something both Accor and Belmond will think about in the longer term future ahead as competitors that is in a market which might welcomes both with open embrace.

Cheers & Safe Travels.

Well Belmond lost the licence in 2014 because SNCF did not renew it. It was clear then that they wanted to develop it with other partners.
