Platinum/Gold Welcome Amenities at Accor Hotels

Hotel: Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour
Status: Platinum
VIP treatment: NOTHING... Even after I reminded them twice, they failed to send the amenity. Am thoroughly disappointed by this property as service at the restaurant was horrible too. Totally unacceptable for a Sofitel and considering they are the first 5 star property to open in Sydney in years, I would think they were ready to impress. (Full Review to come soon when I am free)
Reaction: My after stay feedback survey email literally was me bashing them after they assured me that a manager would contact me for the problems I encountered during my stay but no one did any follow up.

Hotel: Grand Mercure Jinan Sunshine
Status: Gold
VIP treatment: Fruit bowl delivered following check-in (3 pieces of fruit).
Reaction: A bit underwhelmed, not all that surprised. It was still a welcome snack, I guess.

Hotel: Mercure Nanjing Olympic Centre
Status: Platinum
VIP treatment: Nothing. We actually received none of the loyalty benefits.
Reaction: Given that this is a brand new property that opened in the last three weeks, we were very disappointed. We did notice that this appears to be a shared Huazhu/Accor hotel, so perhaps they are unaware of what is required? We actually left this hotel after the one night and moved to the Fairmont.

Reaction: Satisfied with the welcome amenity without being "wow-ed" - it was much better than what we had received at the other hotels on this trip, but was not the best we had received, even when I was a gold-level member.

Status: Platinum
VIP treatment: Welcome amenity of a fruit plate (6 pieces of fruit), and a small plate of chocolates and cookies, was delivered promptly following check-in.
Reaction: This is our fourth or fifth stay at this hotel this year, and the welcome amenity is exactly the same as what we have always received, even when I was a Gold-level member previously (I attained Platinum level about a week ago). That said, it is a satisfactory welcome amenity.

At check in they told me "as a VIP guest" I had been upgraded. Booked the lowest priced room, got a very spacious corner room on the Executive floor, with two balconies. Meant I got lounge access as well.
The Guest Experience Supervisor came to greet me, showed me the lounge (hadn't used it before), and walked me to the room
Welcome gift, not very impressive, see the pic
Drink voucher (had a beer, not sure what else was available)
At breakfast, as a Platinum, they offered me coffee and fresh orange juice from the bar (way better quality compared to what they offered at the buffet breakfast)
Reaction: This was my second visit at the hotel, I was pretty happy with them before, but this was pretty impressive for a Novotel.

Reaction: Meh. Pretty underwhelming, but not too surprised. I think this hotel is struggling a bit - the Executive Lounge is closed, and it appears one of the bars is permanently closed too.

Update: Halfway through the stay (stayed for 2 nights out of 4) and they sent another fruit plate, this time they upgraded the number of fruit to five (from three). This is unusual, last time I stayed here I was here for 5 nights and they didn't send an extra plate. Maybe Plats get additional fruit through their stay?
