Good stay at ibis Styles Batam Nagoya (33 Photos)

ibis Styles Batam Nagoya

Recently opened, the ibis Styles Batam Nagoya is the second Accor property in Batam ever since the Mercure Batam closed down.

I booked 2 rooms at the hotel and emailed the hotel in advance to request  for early check in and a hotel car to pick me us up from Batam Centre Ferry terminal. (we were coming from Singapore) The hotel car only cost us 80,000 Rupiah for the 10-15min ride to the hotel.

Check In

We arrived around 10.45am and was granted early check in and due to our Platinum benefits, BOTH rooms were given a 2 category upgrade to the Junior Suite Room with Balcony. Talk about recognition of Platinum benefits. I've stayed at many Accor properties and none were this generous when it comes to upgrades.

Furthermore, what made this hotel experice one of the best I have encountered was my check in experience. While checking in, the General Manager came down and welcomed us to the hotel, he gave us a short tour of the hotel facilities and some infomation about Batam (since this was our first trip there). Next, the Hotel Manger came to greet us and welcome us to the hotel and informed us that if we needed anything, we should look for him and he will personally handle it. This, I admit was one of my best check in experience I have ever encounted. Both the GM and HM came to greet us. Never have I seen this in any Sofitel/Pullman/etc and this is an ibis Styles. Gosh, hope other Accor hotels learn from this hotel.

Room

Both rooms were located on the top floor of the hotel (8th floor, 806 & 808). This is a short description of the room.

Junior Suite Room with one Queen bed with Balcony

  • The 44m² spacious room with balcony, living room and a private wardrobe. It also features a queen bed with new ibis bedding and bolsters, a 49" LED TV, in room safe, hairdryer, bathroom with bathtub and free highspeed WIFI access.

The room was above ibis standard in terms of size. Even the standard Superior rooms were 25m². Room furnishing were good, not the best when it comes to attention of detail however I did not expect much since it was an ibis styles. The plus point of this room was that there was a bathtub, something not found at many ibis hotels.

I did tour the Superior and Deluxe rooms and must say that those room were pretty good as well. Infact, if given a choice between the Junior Suite and the Deluxe room, I'll pick the Deluxe room. It has everything you need in a good sized room 35m².

Dining

Ala Carte food at the hotel was actually good. Local food was excellent with western options of good quality. (We almost had all our meals in the hotel) As this was an ibis Styles hotel, brekafast was included in all rates.

The breakfast buffet selection was very good and went above and beyond the usual continental breakfast you find at other ibis Styles. Kudos to them for providing a great selection. The buffet has a good selction of cold and hot food.

Pool

The one thing I like about the hotel was the pool and the surrounding areas. Due to the palm trees around the pool, it gives the pool area a feel like you're in a resort. (Although that could just be me wanting to go to a resort soon).

Spa

The hotel Spa was outsorced but the hotel works closely with them. Hotel guest are given 20% discount off all treatments. (The full price of treatments itself were already quite reasonable).

Location

Location of the hotel was actually quite average/bad. But taxi/hired drivers are always an option. We personally hired a driver for a day and paid him about Rp 80,000 an hour which I guess was kind of reasonable as he would drive us where ever we wanted to go.

Overall

Overall, would definetly recommend the hotel to those visiting Batam. Yes, location is not the best. But service, rooms and pricing of hotel was great and made my stay a good one. I am already planning my next trip here already.

Thank you for this nice review Cocoleolol. Looks very nice indeed. Ibis Style is really a nicely implemented concept/brand IMO.

The biggest problem is the location.

Since I was on vacation there, location wasn't really my first priority. But yes, it is a significant issue to the business traveler.

Does the hotel provide any sort of shuttle service to Nagoya hills or any shopping area?

The issue, transportation in Batam is really problematic. Taxis never want to use meter and they just quote ridiculous price.

They do, but I can't remember the specifics.

Does anyone know if we can charge the spa treatments to the hotel or it has to be separate?
