Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu
Has anyone stayed at the Manoir Richelieu in La Malbaie, Quebec? I'm looking at staying there in June while on my honeymoon. Looks very nice on the Fairmont website and has generally good reviews on tripadvisor, but I'd like to hear from my fellow FT'ers, of course!
Also, if you have any suggestions on things to do in the Charlevoix region, please let me know.
Thanks!

I love Le Manoir Richelieu. It's a little out of the way (90 minutes east of Quebec City) for those not familiar with the resort but it's worth the travel. I've been twice - once in winter and once in late summer / early fall. The scenery in Charlevoix is spectacular and there are many amazing restaurants within a relatively short drive. (The food at the hotel is quite good as well. Although the fine dining restaurant is at the higher end price wise).
$99 is a real bargain for this resort. Unfortunately I already have other travel plans booked over these dates but I'm sure a follow-up trip will be on my agenda at some point in the future.

Le Manoir Richelieu, La Malbaie, Quebec
Le Manoir Richelieu is a spectacular hotel in a spectacular setting. Mme 13F, 13F-ette (5.5 yrs old) and yours truly were there for three nights last week. Mme 13F's parents joined us for two of the three nights. Both rooms were river view, although some shuffling was required at the front desk in order to accommodate our request.
Evening buffet dinner is only $24 (Wow! It was $49 at the Ch Frontenac one week earlier). There is a camp fire with marshmallows every night at 8:30pm. Combo of indoor and outdoor pools, kids play room, hot tubs, eucalyptus room, exercise room, etc. And there is a casino right next store. (Almost paid for our stay with my winnings!)
At the suggestion of a neighbour in YOW, we borrowed golf carts to drive UP to the golf course which is perched above the hotel. Even more spectacular views! However I was told the course is better suited to mountain goats than golfers.
The rooms were very comfortable, bathrooms adequate, etc. Only minor complaints: 1) my in-laws were without soap until we called the Royal Service hotline. 2) despite requesting by telephone, we had no turn-down service for two consecutive nights.
We will certainly return to this hotel.

I really like this property.... I was up in that area for work in March. Stayed two nights and love the rustic feel and natural setting. Its a great combo to staying in Quebec City.

My apologies for reviving this thread. We are looking into spending 3 days at Le Manoir Richelieu in February. Any recent impressions of the hotel and winter times in Charlevoix in general?

We used to go quite often to this hotel, which is very nicely situated, and there is lot to do around, summer or winter.
Generally we booked the cheapest room and applied a Room upgrade certificate (which generally wasn't taken from my account) to have a St Lawrence view room (useless to say, it not worth to go to the hotel if you don't have the River view).
Now it seems that they create a new category of rooms "Richelieu" which is just above the standard Fairmont but have no view That sucks, it means that the upgrade certificate now worth 10$ !

love this hotel!
I love this hotel. There are two outdoor heated salt water pools - a unique treat after a day of skiing! The views (Le Massif, Malbaie) are fantastic and there is good hiking nearby. The casino is next door & there is no Entree Gold lounge, otherwise it's perfect!

Any more recent reviews of this hotel, especially from last winter? I'm looking at booking this for three nights next February for a trip to LeMassif.
How are the hotel facilities in the winter? Are there good restaurants in town? The lowest rate I'm getting is $199+tax for a base room, is this reasonable? (Seems high to me.)
Thanks!

199$ is a bit expensive for the winter, I used to pay 130-160$, and use a upgrade certificate to get a River View. If you go here you need a River View.

If you have an American Express, even the standard Amex rates available now will give you that price plus a 4th night free.
