Rapid status changes on stays - how does it work?

I expect to have several consecutive “splurge” Sofitel stays that should take me from a 0- points Classic to Gold over the course of 11 days. The first stay should make me Silver, the next 3 days later (a 4-night stay) should take me to Gold, with a third 5- night stay beginning the next day. All different hotels - the first two in Morrocco.

I assume that until my last hotel stay has posted, the next hotel won’t know my new status, and I wouldn’t get the in- house perks. But for points - does it matter if the new status posts after check-in, but before check-out? Does my entitlement to the extra points depend on when the prior stay posts, or when the spending requirements were met (checkout date)? If the latter, would I have to contact Accor to get the extra points added?

Does the status change on Accor’s records change as soon as the stay that hit let me hit the new status posts, or does it take a few days to update?

Your points are calculated based on your status at checkout (section 7.2.3)

Status during Check-Out. If a Member's Status changes between booking and check-out, the rules used for attributing Reward Points will be those for the Status at check out. For a stay of several consecutive nights, Members are entitled to only one Rewards Point credit when the total invoice is paid.
The status changed pretty quickly after the relevant stay posts.

It takes a few days usually, but you could explain the situation at check out and ask them to post the points asap, you may be lucky. About the perks, as soon as your Gold status shows on the app, you can go back to the check in counter and ask them if they could upgrade you (if you don't mind moving room in the middle of your stay).

If you're looking to leverage more points or a better chance at an upgrade you might want to look into attaining Gold through e.g . the Explorer or Ibis card.

Thanks for the responses. Since these are all multi-day stays, it sounds like there’s a good chance the updated status will post by checkout, giving me the extra point earnings.

Yes, but as RemyMartin said, you should look at buying one of the cards. I believe the best for you, even if you don't plan to stay in APAC for the next 12 months, would be the Explorer card (https://www.accorplus.com). It would give you Gold instantly and the cost is 230usd, so 21usd/night for your trip alone. That would pretty much guarantee you an upgrade to the next category (no suite) and give you more points so you would get back a part of the cost. And if you plan any trip to APAC, it's a no brainer.

I appreciate the suggestions, and I did look into the Explorer card earlier, but in my particular situation Gold status doesn’t get me much but more points. I’ve booked junior suites in each hotel, so if suites aren’t available for upgrades, that wouldn’t help much. No plans for any APAC trips.
