Novotel Luxembourg Kirchberg

Introduction Overall a pleasant brief, one night, stay at a refreshed Novotel. While the common areas are a bit boring (in typical Novotel style) the executive floor seemed to be recently renovated and room (upgraded to suite) was decent. Check In Check in was swift and painless. The room was upgraded already in advance (due to some data issues I encountered before). They forgot the drinks voucher but rectified it quickly. Room The room (Executive upgraded to Executive Suite) was recently renovated and felt brand new. Not one scratch anywhere. The bathroom was immaculate. The suite has a large enough living room, big bedroom and a sizable bathroom with tub and shower. It also has a separate toilet.Minibar was free (2 alcoholic drinks and several soft drinks with two snacks). The room also had a Nespresso machine and an empty water bottle which could be filled with filtered or sparkling water at a fountain on the floor (very sensible solution). Service Service was ok. Services (room service, extra items etc.) can be accessed via an app. None of the English TV stations worked but at least you could stream from your own device (Chromecast). Dining I only had room service (ordered via the app) and the food was ok (restaurant prices plus €7 delivery charge) and it was just about ok. Wrong side dish was delivered but not the end of the world. There are no outside places to eat in the area on a Sunday night so this had to do. Overall Overall a decent enough stay. Not cheap and only a hotel I would choose for business as the location (same goes for the nearby other 3 Accor hotels: Sofitel Europe, Novotel Suites, Mama Shelter).

Kirchberg used to be completely dead on weekends, but that's not true anymore. There's L'Osteria (Italian) very close to the Novotel, as is El Barrio (Spanish). Piri Piri (Portuguese), Ela (Greek) and JFK (steak) are two tram (free public transport) stops away, all of those are open Sunday nights. Still not a bustling nightlife area (although during the week after work drinks at Shamrock Krichberg or The Game can get interesting), but a lot better than it was, say, before Covid, and all of those options would beat Novotel room service.
