Accor Plus Platinum status expiry?

Hi all. I’m a newbie on this forum and somewhat new to Accor elite scheme

I got my first Platinum status in September 2021 by getting 14,000 status points. I then joined Accor Plus in September 2022, expecting my status to expire on 31 December 2022. But, apparently by joining Accor Plus, I have extended it till 30 September 2023, which was a nice surprise.

I only acquired 47 SN in 2022, so I was expecting my status to downgrade to Gold in October, but after a renewal of Accor Plus today, it shows “Accor Plus Platinum valid until 30/09/2024”. It sounds too good to be true - wouldn’t I become Gold from October?

Hi and welcome.

Not sure. I think you may get the Gold downgrade at the end of this month ( September ), but then if you do the few more nights you may be upgraded back to Plat.

I just don't know, but I would be expecting a downgrade.

You may just end up with Accor Plus Gold till 2024. Accor Plus status calculations are not that transparent.

YMMV

How many SN have you earned in 2023? - you would have received a 20SN bonus in early Aug for being a AccorPlus member, then renewing AP today will get you another 20SN bonus. So if you have had 20 or more paid nights this calendar year you will have requalified for Platinum valid until Sept 2024

2 times 20SN for Accor Plus during the same year? too good to be true? I do not understand the logic, so you get 20 for beeing a member each year and also 20 when you renew?

Here's the buzz :The initial 20 was a one off for all current members as at July 31st or thereabouts, going forward it is 20 on renewal each year. So if your renewal was before July 31 only one lot this year for you (me ) If your renewal was after July 31 then 2 lots this year.

Thank you for your reply.

I will just expect a worse case and if I retain Platinum, it’s a bonus.

I still need to do 16 more nights. I wish I knew about the promotion earlier in the year. I had a chance over the summer but chose to stay somewhere else!

I second that. Just like my recent issue when renewed my membership. Downgraded suddenly to Gold and should wait for a cooling period (30 work days) to be upgraded back to Platinum.
I told them that I regretted booking rooms at the cooling period time, and if I knew about it, wouldn't do that and better stay at Marriott or IHG hotels. Then they upgraded my status back to Platinum within 10 work days.

That must have been so frustrating. Hopefully Accor listens to the feedback going forward.

Maybe they should just not have given AccorPlus members 20-40 bonus status nights this year and then no-one would have had reason to complain.

Or perhaps they should just shut-down Accor Plus membership program, then no one would start a complaint about their system?

he requirements are transparent enough, it's the implementation that seems to have some bugs.

Yeah, well if people are not going to read the terrms and conditions and complain when they are appropriately applied then they may as well close it down.

(c) The bonus Status Nights will be reflected in Accor Plus members’ membership accounts within a month of their effective joining or renewing Accor Plus membership subscription date,

Keep that C-term for yourself.
Don't you know that it's an Update? The C term part didn't exist when the program started and their CS informed within 10-20 days before they updated the terms.
