Beware the AccorPlus Renewal Status Downgrade Scam

Website/App shows AccorPlus Diamond Elite expiring on July 31. Email offers 10% earlybird discount on AccorPlus membership if renewed by June 15.
Renew on June 15 and status immediately downgraded to Platinum. I have 25 nights booked prior to July 31st and will miss out on 6 weeks of wildy elevated benefits as a Diamond (at one Mercure I frequent Diamonds get an extra cookie over Platinums at check-in )

You mean that I might receive a satisfactory Customer Service response from Accor?

I'll do it as a therapeutic exercise and report back!

Seems things are not quite as efficient with AccorPlus post-Covid (when in doubt blame Covid)

Hi 3544quebec

This is a computer glitch the IT team have been working on.

I recommend displaying your physical Diamond card to the hotels and explaining to them , if required, the situation.

I have looked at you membership and see you have multiple bookings . I have contacted the Hotels and advised them of the situation and have asked them to confer on you all courtesies as per your Diamond Status.

I have the same issue/case.
My membership expiry date was in August 31, 2023, then renewed on the 24th of August 2023. On the 30th, my status suddenly donwgraded from Platinum to Gold. I called the Customer Service of Accor Plus Indonesia and they told me, "it's just because of the renewal". WHAT??? Okay, ALL Accor Plus IS really a SCAMMER. No doubt!

If your status was due to move down to Gold then they only scammed you out of 1 day of Platinum status. It is also quite common for downgrades to happen sudddenly - very unusual for a program to downgrade you slowly

Its really confusing how it works, when you join Accorplus.

My A+ expires end of November this year. 12 nights away from 60, what happens if, I dont reach 60 by end of November and/or dont renew my A+ got another year

Hurts my brain!

ALL Accor Plus Scam has a new program since July 2023, a new enrollment and or renewal will get +20 Status Nights Bonus. My membership was supposed to still stay at the same tier, Platinum. But since Accor Plus is a Scam, thus, it didn't work.

Yeah, membership mechanism and management system of ALL Accor Plus Scam is so confusing.
I asked them CS of Accor Plus Scam, what would happen if I didn't renew my membership? Would it be still the same tier as Platinum? They couldn't answer. Imagine how we trust them by submitting our personal and credit card information on the their website/application? I immediately deleted all of my personal data.

As a current AccorPlus member you should have received the 20 Status Night bonus when announced in July. Renewing your membership in August from my understanding does not give you a second 20 Status Night bonus for that membership year. It gives you 20 bonus nights for your next membership year commencing Sept 2023.
Unless I have misunderstood, it sounds as though you had less than 40 qualifying nights, should have received 20 Bonus Nights in July as an AccorPlus member but were expecting your renewal 20 Bonus nights to also be added to the membership year that was coming to an end to bump you over the 60 night Platinum renewal threshold. I don't think that is how it works.

Status calculations in Accor Plus are based on calendar years (but applied on membership renewals). So, and nights posting in 2023 will count toward status in 2023.

Not exactly sure what you are saying there (maybe my post wasn't clear) My understanding:
If BizTrip:
1) Had 60 Status Nights in calendar year 2022 then on renewing AP membership on Aug 31 2023 Platinum membership would have extended to Aug 31 2024.
2) Had less than 60 SN in CY 2022 but 40 earned SN in CY 2023 to date then 20 bonus SN given to current AP members in July would have renewed Platinum status
3) had less than 60 SN in CY 2022 and 20-39 earned SN in CY 2023 to date then 20 bonus SN given in July would not have renewed Platinum but when 20 bonus SN are credited for August 31st renewal that should trigger CY 2023 Platinum achievement and bumping back up to Platinum.
4) had less than 60 SN in CY 2022 and less than 20 earned SN in CY 2023 to date then 20 bonus SN given in July would not have renewed Platinum nor will the 20 bonus SN when credited for August 31st AP renewal. Will need to have 20+ earned SN in CY2023 to add to the 40 bonus SN received this CY.

Of course, since no details have been provided (only the SCAM claim) this is all speculation on my part.
