When Do Accor Points/Nights Post?

G'day,

I stayed at the Ibis Hotel & Apartments Melbourne over the weekend (checkout was yesterday, Sunday) and noticed that the points and nights haven't posted yet to my account. As I'm on the cusp of Silver status with Accor and have several more stays booked with them, I'm keen on learning when I can it posted to my account?

Normally 2-3 days, but can occasionally take a week. If you are on the cusp, take a look at previous postings and see how long they took..

I've never stayed at an Accor before as a member (I stayed at Novotels and Ibis Budgets through an OTA booking prior to this). Thanks to my QF status, a single stay was all that's required to hit Accor Silver status.

One other question: as a newly minted Accor Silver member what are some real benefits I can look forward to? I'm presently a Marriott Gold member and the benefits are meh (aside from perhaps the occasional room upgrade and late checkout). I'm also a Hilton Gold member and the only perceivable benefit I can see is the free breakfast.

Don't get your hopes up. Realistially you may get a welcome drink and extra points, and late checkout is possible. Although IME in europe at least, most times you ask you could get that for a few hours anyway. so hardly a silver benefit.

I plan on staying at Accor hotels mostly in APAC given I'm based in Australia and to my knowledge Marriott/Hiltons tend to have a much larger presence in Europe and the Americas. Hopefully the perks over here are noticeable. Only time will tell!

Not much in fact , besides late check out and welcome drink .

The grass might seems greener elsewhere but the industry's standards are going down . Regarding benefits due to status , it often depends on the hotels if applied or not , unless hard coded into the terms and conditions

Only cause of covid they decided to offer more incentives for people to stay in hotels , like extra/bonus points (every big player does it now frequently) , fast track (IHG , Accor, Bonvoy) or status match (hilton honours) . I missed the fast track of bonvoy in Q1 2022 , but i dont regret it now when i see prices in other countries and what their CEO thinks out loud about customers . Meanwhile I managed to get status matched by Hilton (but because they decided to exclude accor , i had to use the fast track of IHG to be eligible) and next week i will reach HH platinum

The late check-out I do value, though. 11 AM is far too early to check out at a hotel, and I've been spoiled at Marriotts where I could easily get 2 PM, often 4 PM check outs on that final day. Out of curiosity, how does late check out work for Accor? Does each property have their own late check out time that you can request or is there a uniform standard like Marriott?

This has been my experience with Marriott at least. As a lowly Gold I'm lucky if I get a welcome drink at some properties never mind upgrades. Hilton does seem to be a bit more consistent when it comes to benefits, namely the complimentary breakfast benefit for us Golds here in Australia.

You aren't missing our much with Marriott status. The whole program went down the tubes when Marriott merged with SPG. Prior to the merged as a SPG Gold member I could count on getting lounge access or breakfast at most hotels, late checkout, upgrades, etc. Ever since then the story has been that of the stripping of benefits for us mid-tier elites from removing breakfast to reducing the late check-out benefits from 4 PM to 2 PM, is it any wonder why many people don't care about earning status at the chains anymore and just stick to whatever is the cheapest highly rated hotel on an OTA? My philosophy when it comes to booking is I'll book directly with a chain if the rate is cheap and if the hotel is good. Otherwise, I'll stick with the OTA.

It is up to availability , in some hotels you can buy that option during booking (ibis for sure and sometimes novotel) .

Usually its not a big deal , just ask at reception and they will tell you whats possible (but as said earlier , its not hard coded policy about specific times for late check-out)

in rare situations , if hotel will be full and/or your room is scheduled for someone else after you then you wont have it (or maybe 1h extra max)

i heard about how good was SPG and how marriott essentially killed it during merger , i feel sad for old SPG members

I only suscribed to bonvoy cause i had to stay in 4points and moxxy , these brands are nice , i like it , i even got lot of flying blue miles from it , however i wont go further with marriott hotels , as they are often overpriced in other countries

+1000 !! i understood early on that its not worth the extra money and effort , cause you end up begging people to get the advertised benefits you are supposed to have , while some independant hotels are offering the services they want to , at the price they decided ... so thats why

About OTAs , its really sad that all these independant hotels need to rely on such "almost useless" vampires , rather than just gathering and creating their own platforms
