Accor Status Question

Having been a platinum member for about 10 years, I'm at risk this year of loosing that status due to reduction in travel this past year.

I'm at 9300 status points for this year and am looking at booking a family vacation at a Sofitel (around 9000 Euro) either at the end of this year or first week of January.

Questions:
1. If we check in Jan 1 2022 but have paid the trip in December 2021 will that suffice to keep status as I am unsure if the new points get added on to the 2021 points ( and does it double due to the promo) OR
2. should i check in December 30/31 but will end up checking out in 2022, will that count ?

or are we out of luck.

Thanks - been on hold with ALL for 20 minutes to try to get the answer.

Is it really that bad if it doesn't count until 2022? If the stay is going to cost 9,000 Euros, that would give you 22,500 status points next year, which will get you to Platinum anyway, and then you have a head start on the year and are just a short stay away from Diamond. I guess it would mean you wouldn't be Platinum during the actual stay itself, but I'm not sure you're really losing out on much by staying as a Gold member.

IME it's always the check-out date that matters. If you check out Jan 1, the entire stay will count for 2022.

Status points and nights counted 2022 in both questions. No double nights or points unless ALL does not extend the promo. As answered previously, check-out date counts.
Cannot imagine that someone is worried about losing Platinum status and willing to spend 9000 euros to keep it. The only significant difference with Gold is two suite upgrade vouchers and depending the region, lounge access if exsist. I achieved Platinum naturally by nights but I do not value even Gold to purchase it for 90 euros(Ibis Business). If Platinum is so important and there is low comfort/price Ibis near your location, book a room then check-in and check-out when you are done with total of 60 nights including double promo nights.

Hi

Dont hold up much hope that CS will be able to assist you. You are better off asking members on forums. You have done this. Here is my take on your situation.

Firstly, what do you get for Platinum at the un named Sofitel that you can not get as gold. I presume lounge access, but is there other soft benefits ?
Have you stayed before ? This may help - Talk to the hotel. ( or go through a travel agent that can provide benefits ie Jasper )

If you check in in December, you will get all the Plat benefits, and when you check out in Jan the calendar is reset so you 9K€ spend will be on a new year.

How much is one night at the end of the year as a cost compared to the "cost" of the loss of status ?

We can better judge if you hint at the part of the world you are staying, as Accor regions are more helpful than others.

Stay Safe and well.

Hope this helps and I have understood correct. TBH Gold in say UK is not worth much, but Gold in Asia is
